Job Description
Do you have good attention to detail and enjoy practical work PETA Ltd are looking to source an exceptional Workshop Operative Apprentice for our client Tillys Interiors Ltd based in Waterlooville. This role involves working with a small team learning a range of techniques in a workshop environment.
Training to be provided:
As a Workshop Operative Apprentice you will be studying a Level 2 Engineering Operative Apprenticeship. Throughout your apprenticeship with Tillys Interiors you will be supported by your company mentor and your PETA Learning and Development Coach.
Your apprenticeship programme includes working towards a Level 2 Diploma and Level 2 Certificate in Engineering Operations.
Overall duration 15 months.

Joining the team at Tillys as a Workshop Operative Apprentice you will learn to be skilled in workshop tasks with every stage of production.
Your main responsibilities on the job will be:
- Read and interpret job sheets and technical drawings accurately
- Measure and check parts reporting any discrepancies
- Apply specialist antique finishes using various manual techniques
- Cut shape bend and polish metal using hand tools and light machinery
- Assemble and disassemble components to precise specifications
- Maintain a clean organised workspace and follow workshop procedures
- Track stock usage report issues and meet production targets consistently

Essential skills:
An apprenticeship is all about learning new knowledge skills and behaviours therefore to be considered for this role you must be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in engineering and a willingness to learn.
To be considered for the role of a Workshop Operative Apprentice you will have an interest in technical/practical work and have a passion to work in the engineering industry.
You will also require the following skills and qualifications:
- 2 GCSEs at grade C (4) or above or equivalents in maths and English
- Drive to improve processes/techniques
- Good communication
- Excellent time-keeping and reliability
- Work well in a team
- Willingness to learn
- Positive attitude and enthusiasm
- Good at listening and following instructions
