Job Description

Your role

  • Serve as the central contact point for sustainable materials within ZEISS driving synergies across business units.

  • Build competency in the field by actively screening for new opportunities that align with realistic time-to-market scenarios and market needs.

  • Emphasize compliance with safety regulations functional substitution reducing hazardous chemicals and addressing geopolitical tensions and material scarcities.

  • Ensure early involvement of manufacturability in the ideas generated by the team.

  • Act as a joint competency center for future initiatives focusing on application pull.

  • Function as an innovation unit within the Corporate Research and Development Department for ZEISS emphasizing technology push and screening for new business opportunities in the field of sustainable materials.

Your profile

  • Expertise and passion in sustainable materials focusing on bio-based recyclable long-lifetime low-emission and SSbD materials with experience in projects enhancing circularity and reducing emissions.

  • A degree in Material Science Environmental Science Chemistry Process Engineering or a related field.

  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards related to sustainable materials.

  • Proficiency in material testing life cycle analysis and sustainability assessments.

  • Strong project management skills with a proven track record of leading cross-functional teams.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset to actively shape a topic field.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both German and English with excellent presentation abilities.

  • A commitment to environmental sustainability and circular economy principles.

  • Ability to identify market needs and opportunities for innovation in sustainable materials.

  • Familiarity with safety regulations functional substitution and innovations in recycling and material longevity.
