Job Description
The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law preserve peace protect the people reduce fear and maintain order. The Deputy Commissioner Management and Budget serves as the Chief Fiscal Officer of the New York City Police Department as such The Office of the Deputy Commissioner Management and Budget (DCMB) and its subunits coordinate and oversee financial planning capital construction payment for expenditures implementation of contracts and procurement as well as distribution of
Department equipment and supplies. One of these subunits Data Analytics and Technology Solutions is engaged in the review and analysis of programs and policies Impacting upon the Police Departments budgetary requirements. Staff prepare regularly scheduled analytical reports on budgetary issues and trends as well as project studies.
Data Analytics and Technology Solutions is seeking a candidate to serve in the position of City Research Scientist Level II to assist with operations. Under supervision the selected candidate will be responsible for extracting cleaning and compiling large datasets for reports distributed throughout the Department. This person will also be responsible for utilizing programs such as Power Bl SPSS and Python to manage agency data and to produce reports accordingly.

Qualifications :
1. For Assignment Level I (only physical biological and environmental sciences and public health) A masters degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in an appropriate field of physical biological or environmental science or in public health.
To be appointed to Assignment Level II and above candidates must have:
1. A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical biological environmental or social science and one year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization; or
2. A masters degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical biological environmental or social science and three years of responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field of specialization; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However all candidates must have at least a masters degree in an appropriate field of specialization and at least two years of experience described in 2 above. Two years as a City Research Scientist Level I can be substituted for the experience required in 1 and 2 above.

Probationary Period
Appointments to this position are subject to a minimum probationary period of one year.
