SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises and manages the districts vehicular maintenance program.
- Maintains an inventory and accountability of parts tools supplies and equipment.
- Maintains a complete vehicular and maintenance records system of all work performed.
- Schedules and supervises the work of all shop personnel.
- Recruits screens trains supervises and evaluates shop personnel.
- Insures shop organization cleanliness and safety.
- Operates an effective waste management program to include the proper storage and disposal of hazardous waste in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Provides periodic maintenance and cost reports to the Transportation Director.
- Makes recommendations on equipment replacement.
- Evaluates and approves all work orders for vehicle repair.
- Maintains current tags permits decals and inspection stickers.
- Substitutes on bus routes as needed.
- Reports regularly and punctually to assigned work location and notifies supervisor or designee of impending absence in a timely manner.
- Performs any other duties as assigned by the Transportation Director.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Satisfactory driving record with a valid Commercial Driver License Class B with a P passenger endorsement S school bus endorsement and an air brake endorsement.
- Three years experience in vehicle and/or facilities management and personnel supervision.
- Minimum age of 21.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be ASE certified or be willing to obtain ASE certification in various areas of expertise.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Environment: Standard office and highbaysettings; moderate travel districtwide and statewide; exposure to potentially stressful environments; regularly perform inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse environmental conditions mechanical parts fumes .
Physical: Sufficient physical ability to perform lifting up to 50 pounds; regularly required to walk sit or stand for prolonged periods of time; may require climbing stooping kneeling or crouching.
Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents.
Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction; the noise level in the work environment is moderate.
