Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and support a team of Relative/Kinship Care Specialists ensuring adherence to agency policies and procedures.
- Provide case consultation and problem-solving support to staff.
- Review and approve Structured Decision-Making safety assessments Assessments of Placement safety and Suitability and Out of Home Assessments as required.
- Plan assign and track work assigned.
- Evaluate staff performance; manage personnel actions including hiring training scheduling and disciplinary processes.
- Collaborate with CFS and Relative/Kinship teams to address the needs of children placed with kinship caregivers.
- Review and approve home studies and licensing recommendations.
- Participate in on-call rotation and provide consultation as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements/ Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelors degree in social work psychology sociology counseling human development mental health care education criminal justice or other closely related area. Experience performing case management responsibilities in protective services alcohol/drug abuse juvenile justice probation counseling or social services delivery AND experience leading coordinating directing monitoring and/or supervising others
Preferred Qualifications: Two years recent experience as a Kinship or Foster Care Specialist. Experience mentoring coaching or leading a team. Supervisory experience is highly preferred.
Other: Valid Drivers license is required. Travel for face to face visits with children families service providers and other work related appointments may be required dependent upon caseload location. Utilization of a state vehicle may be provided dependent upon office location.
Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of supervisory principles and child welfare case management practices.
- Skilled in conducting interviews assessing needs and providing effective guidance.
- Ability to lead evaluate and develop staff; manage complex case dynamics; and communicate effectively and empathetically.
