Description

The Testing Center at Pittsburg State University seeks applicants for a Testing Center Coordinator. The primary function of the Testing Center Coordinator is to oversee the daily operations and overall management of The University Testing Center. This includes ensuring compliance with testing guidelines supervising staff maintaining a professional testing environment and guaranteeing a positive experience for all test candidates. The Testing Center Coordinator also acts as the primary liaison with testing agencies ensuring strict adherence to their policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

40% - Operational Management and Compliance:

  • Oversee daily operations ensuring compliance with agency-specific policies (e.g. Prometric Educational Testing Service) and serving as the primary point of contact for agency representatives addressing inquiries and implementing policy updates.
  • Manage the Testing Center including staff supplies and equipment while overseeing the upkeep and maintenance of testing equipment and facilities including technology updates and troubleshooting.
  • Schedule exams manage testing materials coordinate proctoring schedules and collaborate with university personnel and external agencies to coordinate standardized testing (e.g. Prometric exams licensure and certification tests weekend sessions and university-specific exams).
  • Coordinate training and compliance measures provided by ETS for administering specialized exams such as the ACT SAT and MFT and develop and implement policies to address emerging challenges streamline workflows and enhance the test-taker experience.
  • Act as the primary contact for agency representatives addressing inquiries resolving issues and implementing policy updates.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to testing security protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the Testing Center budget including tracking expenses forecasting needs and ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
  • Proctor tests to ensure a secure fair and distraction-free testing environment in accordance with established guidelines.

30% - Staff Management and Candidate Support:

  • Manage recruitment onboarding training and supervision of new staff ensuring adherence to testing protocols and institutional values while providing ongoing support coaching and performance feedback.
  • Develop staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage for daily operations and weekend testing sessions and enforce adherence to compliance guidelines among all staff.
  • Address customer inquiries complaints and accommodation requests professionally maintaining confidentiality and ensuring compliance with testing protocols.
  • Monitor candidate satisfaction through surveys feedback forms and informal check-ins using insights to guide improvements.
  • Collaborate with disability services to arrange accommodations and ensure accessibility for all test-takers.
  • Handle escalations related to technical issues testing irregularities and emergency situations ensuring resolutions align with testing agency standards.

20% - Innovation and Collaboration

  • Lead the development of new testing programs and partnerships that support institutional goals and community needs.
  • Collaborate with campus partners in student success and across academic affairs units to enhance testing opportunities.
  • Conduct environmental scans to innovate and expand testing options based on external partnership opportunities and academic program needs.

10% - Other Duties

  • Promote awareness of testing center services to internal and external partners.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education and Experience

Required Education and Experience Time of Hire

  • High School Diploma
  • 1 years experience leading people

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 1 years experience with Prometric or similar testing agencies
  • 2 years experience in a supervisory role

Appointment Duration: 12 months

Work Schedule: Full Time Monday Friday occasional evenings and Saturday testing events
