Job Description

The American College of Radiology seeks a visionary and strategic leader to serve as the inaugural Executive Vice President (EVP) for Member Value and Experience. Reporting directly to the CEO this executive will play a critical role in shaping and executing strategies to enhance the value proposition of ACR membership and elevate the overall experience of members. The EVP will provide executive oversight for key functional areas vital to member connection and professional development including Membership; Education; Marketing Public Affairs and Communications; Conference and Meeting Services; Strategy Management and Foresight; and Publications.

The position is also responsible for some of the operational and member commissions and dyad relationships between staff and volunteer leaders. This position requires a dynamic leader adept at integrating diverse functions to create a seamless member journey fostering loyalty growth and active participation within the College. The role focuses on developing long-range goals strategies plans and policies; the ability to routinely exercise discretion; and independent judgment in the performance of job duties. This position is accountable for the overall programmatic and fiscal integrity of the multiple departments and external relationships articulating the compelling mission and vision of the ACR to all stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
The Executive Vice President will play a pivotal leadership role in helping the organization shift toward a more unified and strategic approach to membership marketing and value delivery. This leader must guide a reimagining of how the College delivers value to members by integrating services education and communications in a way that reflects an innovative dynamic professional member society. The EVP will be instrumental in aligning resources around a clear vision particularly in aligning the needs of the members in the current environment with member benefits. Building on recent efforts to bring clarity and intentionality the EVP will help define and articulate what differentiates the College in an increasingly competitive and shifting professional landscape.

The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of marketing member engagement and customer experience. Although a strong understanding of the realities of modern professional and trade associations is a benefit candidates with experience in other industries could also be successful in this role. They must be comfortable operating in a hybrid spacepart mission-driven society part corporate enterpriseand skilled in interpreting market research member/customer feedback and broader industry trends. The EVP must advocate for innovation in education where participation has declined by aligning content delivery with new consumption
habits and enhancing the use of virtual on-demand platforms. A critical part of this role will be to ensure volunteer contributions are respected and well-leveraged and to foster a leadership culture that listens to members communicates transparently and leads with purpose.

A progressive forward-thinking approach to marketing is essential. The EVP must enhance and advance an already strong marketing and communications functionensuring it remains proactive strategic and highly responsive in amplifying the Colleges voice across media to members potential members and the broader public. The media and marketing team is rich in talent and potential and now stands at an exciting inflection point. The new EVP will bring the strategic vision and decisive leadership needed to elevate the Colleges story enhance our digital visibility and ensure that the value we create is clearly and consistently communicated. Success in this role will require fluency in modern media data-driven marketing strategies and a collaborative hands-on leadership stylequalities that will inspire confidence strengthen performance and accelerate the Colleges progress.

EVP responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Leadership: Partner with the CEO and other members of the executive team to develop and implement overarching strategies that enhance member value engagement retention and recruitment. Ensure alignment of departmental activities with the ACRs mission and strategic plan.
  • Member Engagement & Experience: Champion a member-centric customer focused culture across all responsible departments. Develop and oversee initiatives to understand member needs enhance satisfaction and create valuable experiences for different membership segments throughout their career lifecycle.
  • Membership: Provide strategic direction for membership recruitment retention and engagement programs. Analyze membership trends and develop innovative approaches to grow and diversify the ACR membership base.
  • Education: Oversee the development delivery and evaluation of ACRs non-clinical and clinical educational portfolio including online learning graduate medical education (GME) and continuing medical education (CME) and professional and leadership development resources. Ensure educational offerings are relevant high-quality and meet the evolving needs of radiologists and their practices in both content and delivery format.
  • Marketing & Communications: Lead the strategic marketing and communication efforts for the responsible departments and for the College as a whole ensuring consistent branding effective promotion of programs and services and clear communication of value to members and other interested parties utilizing traditional and newer communication platforms including social media. Oversee market research and analysis to inform strategy.
  • Meetings & Events: Provide executive oversight for the planning execution and financial performance of ACR meetings including the annual meeting leadership meetings and other educational conferences. Ensure educational meetings deliver high quality content networking opportunities and overall attendee experience.
  • Strategy Management & Foresight: In conjunction with the CEO lead the processes for ongoing strategic planning performance monitoring and environmental scanning within the assigned areas. Identify emerging trends challenges and opportunities in radiology and healthcare to inform future strategy and programming.
  • Publications: Oversee the strategic direction and operations of ACRs publications including journals (e.g. JACR and ACR Bulletin) newsletters website and other member communications. Ensure publications maintain high standards of quality relevance and impact.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Foster strong collaboration between responsible departments and with other ACR divisions to ensure integrated service delivery and a unified member experience.
  • Fiscal Management: Develop and manage budgets for the assigned departments ensuring responsible resource allocation and achievement of financial goals.
  • Team Leadership: Build mentor and lead high-performing remote teams within each functional area. Foster a culture of innovation collaboration accountability and continuous improvement within and across teams. Serve in Senior Executive position including significant interaction with ACR Board of Chancellors and other
    ACR leaders.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

The Candidate
The Executive Vice President must be a strategic versatile leader who can bridge the gap between what the College delivers and how that translates into meaningful value for its diverse membership. A deep understanding of the breadth of the professionacross radiology specialties geographies and practice typesis essential as is the ability to distill complex content into clear compelling messaging that resonates with members. This role requires a keen awareness of the nuances between branding and marketing and the discipline to move beyond slogans to deliver authentic data-driven engagement. The EVP must be deliberate in strengthening connections with state chapter leaders leveraging their local insight to create a multiplier effect that amplifies national initiatives. An understanding of the fragmented nature of todays workforce across the radiology fieldwill be critical in shaping communication strategies that meet people where they are using effective channels like social media which remains underutilized.

Equally important are operational and interpersonal attributes. The EVP must be curious adaptable and able to collaborate closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) extracting essential insights across commissions and specialty areas to inform broader strategy. This position requires a strong ability to lead and integrate cross-functional teams ensuring that marketing and content efforts are aligned and impactfulnot just process-driven.

The EVP will need to elevate staff competencies especially in leveraging member data and analytics to close the current gap between available insights and actual utilization. With over 2000 volunteers contributing to the Colleges work this leader must also foster a culture of engagement identifying pathways to increase
participation and recognize volunteer impact. Ultimately the EVP will help set a new tone of leadershipone grounded in relevance responsiveness and the ability to inspire action across all levels of the organization.

Skills and Competencies

  • Masters degree in business administration healthcare administration marketing non-profit management or a related field is strongly preferred. Bachelors degree required.
  • 20 years related experience; 10 years supervisory required.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategies for member/customer engagement growth and retention.
  • Visionary leadership with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Experience in strategic planning foresight and translating strategy into actionable plans.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing significant budgets.
  • Outstanding communication interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Strong understanding of marketing principles educational program development and meeting management.
  • Data-driven decision-making capabilities.
  • Proficiency in leveraging technology to enhance member services and operational efficiency.
  • Excellent MS Office skills along with a basic knowledge of payroll and finance/accounting related systems.
  • Ability to manage a remote workforce.
  • Knowledge of all applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Health Information Trust Alliance (HITRUST) Good Clinical Practice (GCP) etc.).

ACR is committed to a total rewards compensation philosophy that includes base salary in addition to our full suite of comprehensive benefits. ACRs goal is to pay competitively and equitably. It is typical for individuals to be hired in the entry to middle of the range for their role and compensation decisions depend on each cases circumstances. A reasonable estimate of the annual compensation range for this position is $400000 $500000.
