Job Description

Classification Title:

Student Assistant

Classification Minimum Requirements:
  • Demonstrate previous experience and understanding of general event technology (projectors microphones sound systems audio/video cables and adapters).
  • Demonstrate competency in general navigation and troubleshooting for Windows and/or macOS operating systems.
  • Ability to commit to working 10 or more hours per week including nights and weekends during the fall and spring semesters. No work anticipated in June and July.
  • Exceptional customer service and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • This job requires someone who is detail oriented reliable responsible dependable honest and ethical.
  • Ability to do physical tasks and lift at least 30 lbs.
  • CPR and First Aid Certified not required but highly recommended.
  • Be a current University of Florida full-time student in good standing with at least a 2.0 GPA
Job Description:
  • Serve as onsite technology specialist for events held in the Ocora.
  • Attend events to assist with audio-visual equipment troubleshooting any issues that may arise and ensuring satisfaction of contracting group.
  • Collaborate with CLAS IT and the College of Journalism and Communications team to ensure technology is working and alert immediately if there are issues. Collaborate with other campus partners to coordinate services as needed.
  • Conduct walk-throughs of the space with the contracting organizations to understand technical and event requirements.
  • Assist with supervising event setup and breakdown ensuring client follows guidelines and enforcing space policies as needed.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the key log ensuring keys are picked up and dropped off in a timely manner.
  • Assist with general management of Ocora including maintenance of space technology/equipment supply inventory set-up and break-down etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Expected Salary:

16.00 per hour

  • Be a current University of Florida full-time student in good standing with at least a 2.0 GPA
