Job Summary

The Assistant Director Social Media Strategy & Content will assist in leading the Redbirds brand development through social media. Responsibilities include monitoring the Illinois State Athletics social media community increasing engagement and developing creative ways to drive ticket sales and fan attendance through social media. This position will manage assigned sports social media accounts with the goal of showcasing the accomplishments of ISU student-athletes and coaches and sharing all of the great things about being a Redbird to fans recruits alumni etc. The Assistant Director will be tasked with establishing an overall brand and voice for the assigned accounts. This position could also assist in the management of miscellaneous athletics department accounts.

$43890 - $44796 annual

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor or equivalent degree in journalism sports communications sports marketing sports management public relations communications English or a related field.
2. Two (2) years (24 months) of full-time or part-time equivalent professional level work experience in the athletic communications/sports information field professional athletics or Intercollegiate Athletics social media and content creation.
4. Highly proficient in social media platforms: X Instagram Facebook TikTok LinkedIn Snapchat Threads
5. Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite: Lightroom Lightroom Classic Photoshop
6. Experience in CapCut or similar video editing platforms
7. Organized detail-oriented problem solver.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Masters Degree

Work Hours

Core hours are Monday through Friday 8am to 4:30pm. Frequent weekend and night availability required.

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:

1. Effectively communicate on a daily basis.
2. Remain at a workstation for extended periods.
3. Move about in various locations across campus as needed to complete day-to-day work.

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview. The active register for this classification will be voided when the position is filled.
