Summary

The Director of Individual Giving is responsible for growing the base of new and existing individual donors to drive revenue growth in alignment with the organizations strategic priorities. This leader works closely with the Vice President of Development to identify donors support stewardship and conduct prospect research. The Director plays a critical role in cultivating major gifts andstrengthening alumni engagement. This position includes an annual individual fundraising goal determined in collaboration with leadership.

The Director of Individual Giving must be a compelling storyteller and relationship builder who can inspire donors to deepen their support. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and a creative out-of-the-box fundraiser who can leverage networks and build meaningful long-term donor relationships. The Director will also contribute to a culture of philanthropy across the organization and champion fundraising through an equity lens.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Build and grow a broad base of individual donors across giving levels and channels.
  • Identify qualify cultivate solicit and steward individuals capable of donating $5000 regularly meeting with donors and prospects.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive individual giving strategy including annual appeals major gifts alumni giving and digital campaigns.
  • Conduct and oversee thoughtful donor research to identify new individual foundation and corporate prospects.
  • Create and manage a strategic communication cultivation and solicitation plan for current and former mentors LYBUNT/SYBUNT donors and other key segments.
  • Grow giving from alumni and current mentors with targeted outreach and engagement strategies.
  • Oversee peer-to-peer and online giving campaigns ensuring strategies meet or exceed budgeted goals.
  • Supervise the database manager supporting effective gift processing training and accurate tracking and reporting.
  • Partner with the Marketing and Communications teams to develop and produce all donor-facing collateral including impact reports campaign materials mailings and stewardship communications.
  • Utilize data and analytics to drive donor segmentation pipeline development and fundraising performance.
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally to align donor engagement with programmatic and organizational priorities.
  • Serve as a member of the Development leadership team helping shape and execute long-term revenue strategies.


Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):


  • Growth in number and value of major gifts ($5000)
  • Increased donor retention rates
  • Growth in alumni and mentor donor participation
  • Planned Giving prospects identified and cultivated.
  • Year-over-year increase in total revenue from individual donors


Knowledge Skills and Abilities:


  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional relationship-building presentation and communication skills
  • Creative and strategic thinker with the ability to take ideas from concept to execution.
  • Deep understanding of donor behavior and trends with a commitment to data-informed decision making.
  • Team-oriented and collaborative with strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
  • Skilled leader and coach able to support staff development and performance.
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms (Salesforce preferred) Microsoft Office Suite and digital fundraising tools.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and a demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in fundraising.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for donor engagement and events.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of nonprofit development experience with a proven track record of cultivating individual donors and securing major gifts
  • Supervisory experience preferred with demonstrated ability to manage and coach team members
  • Experience in cross-cultural communications and relationship building across sectors including corporate nonprofit and community-based settings.

  • The is a full time exempt salaried position listed with a range of $82-90k Annually DOE.
  • Excellent benefits including company paid medical dental vision for the employee.
  • This is a Hybrid position with a minimum of 2 days onsite per work week required: remaining days remote-flexible based on team needs.

Physical Demands:


This position is regularly to sit stand walk speak and hear. The position requires extensive computer use so the employee must have sufficient hand dexterity to use a computer keyboard and be capable of reading a computer screen.
