Job Description

Summary: Help develop an individual giving program by building relationships with key donors to HSNT. Serve as the face of HSNT with our most loyal and capable supporters. Help promote a donor-centered culture where donors are partners and not just sources of cash and where they are valued and respected. Help identify and fulfill donor passions and interests and as a result raise needed funds for organizational programs and meet revenue goals for this position.

Essential Functions:

  • With the VP of Development provide leadership for and help direct the execution of major gift fundraising strategy including individuals and family foundations with the capacity to give at the $10000 level and above. The purpose is to build relationships with donors and create mutually satisfying transactions. (Practically you would be away from your desk about 50% of the time connecting with donors.)
  • With the VP of Development identify an initial caseload of 100 to 125 donors and prospects to qualify for cultivation/solicitation.
  • Develop individual goals and strategies for each of your donors in your caseload which include meaningful qualification cultivation solicitation and stewardship touches; the latter would include but not be limited to the reporting of measurable results.
  • With the VP of Development develop a system for calling and thanking donors on the weekly gift report.
  • Conduct meaningful connections with donors via handwritten notes phone in person and virtually to cultivate relationships identify donor passions and interests deepen relationships and ultimately grow giving.
  • Help identify opportunities to ask donors to help us host intimate donor events for the purpose of expanding our reach and creating awareness of opportunities for partnership.
  • Meet agreed upon metrics that support a successful major gifts program such a meaningful visits dollars requested/received stewardship touches meeting revenue goals and retention of caseload donors.

Secondary responsibilities:

  • With the VP of Development and members of the operations team help create investment opportunities to present key donors for funding comprised of specifics of programs outcomes and costs.
  • Collaborate with members of the operations team identifying opportunities to include them in cultivation and solicitation of donors.
  • Attend HSNT-wide adoption (and other) events to support teams across HSNT.

  • Excellent writing and communications skills.
  • Comfortable working with and interpreting financial statements budgets and spreadsheets as well as power point presentations.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills. Adaptable to growing fast-paced diverse results oriented culture.
  • Bachelors degree in Marketing Communications or related field plus 3-5 years of development or sales experience in a professional capacity.
