The National Space Centre is the UKs largest visitor attraction dedicated to space and space exploration welcoming around a quarter of a million visitors each year since its opening in June 2001. Venue Hire is a vital part of the business exploiting the highly themed surroundings of the award-winning building and exhibition to provide a unique experience. It has become firmly established as one of East Midlands unique premier events venue; hosting 250 events and welcoming 16000 corporate visitors per year. About the role
The National Space Centre is looking to recruit talented individuals to work as Events Crew Team Members. We aim to deliver World Class parties and events for our guests with amazing food and entertainment provided by our great members of staff!
Events Crew Team Members will be required to greet guests serve and clear food and drinks during the events.
Applicants should have proven experience within a customer-focused environment working face-to-face with members of the public. Some experience of working within in a waiting / bar staff role would be an advantage. You should have excellent communication skills and a flexible adaptable and willing attitude towards work. Smart personal appearance and a passion for delivering high quality events are essential.
The role is casual. Working hours are usually from 5pm until the end of the event (expected early hours of the morning the exact finish time will vary by event). There will be a requirement to work weekends during December due to Christmas Parties.
Rate of pay is 13.16 per hour.
Due to the nature of the events preference will be given to experienced applicants who are over 18 years of age who are able to serve alcohol.

Purpose: To deliver a first class customer experience to all corporate guests with the support of the corporate events team and wider Space Centre team.
Reporting to: The Venue Hire Team
Liaising with: Head Chef Kitchen Staff Operations Team Security Team Technical Team and Housekeeping
Duties:
- Meet and greet all corporate guests upon arrival
- Provide a high standard of customer service in delivering everything from arrival drinks and canap receptions to dinner service.
- Understand basic allergy information and where detailed product information can be found
- Efficient delivery of food and beverage to tables.
- Manage bar services especially at busy times.
- To operate tills with effective cash handling.
- Responsible for delivering quality service and up selling the National Space Centre where appropriate
- Dealing with general enquires and customer service issues.
- Assist efficiently with event preparation and clear down correctly as per the event requirements and event teams instructions.
- Ability to deal with last minute changes in a calm professional manor.
- Ensure that all health and safety procedures including fire & evacuation and manual handling are adhered to.
- Maintain effective safe food hygiene practices as per food hygiene training.
- To work as part of the operational team.
- Undertake in-house and external training as necessary.
- Undertaking any other tasks relevant to the post as required by Corporate Duty Manager.
Person Specification:
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently within a busy environment.
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with customers other staff members/teams plus agency staff.
- Reliable with a responsible and positive attitude towards work.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service and an understanding of the needs of the customers by building a rapport.
- Communicate directly with corporate guests in a polite manor during an event.
- Ability to comply with manual handling safety procedures.
