As a Labourer II with the Pruning Team you will brighten the lives of Edmontonians and will make a difference every day. Your duties are briefly summarised below:
- Assist Arborists to develop and maintain normal tree health and structure
- Assist Arborists with tree pruning and removals
- Assist Equipment Operators IIs in chipping brush stump grinding forklift operation delivery and hauling of various materials
- Perform ground-worker operations
- Operate and perform minor maintenance on equipment which may include the use of chainsaws and various pruning tools
- Provide traffic control and direction including greeting the public and providing prompt and courteous service
- Conduct job duties in a safe manner in compliance with City and Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Legislation regulations codes policiess and competency training
- Perform other related duties as required

- Completion of Grade 10
- Minimum 1 year of experience in maintaining trees including tree pruning and maintenance
- Knowledge of standard methods materials tools and equipment used in the construction and maintenance of specific work assignments including experience operating 2 ton-aerial unit
- Knowledge of safety precautions and hazards involved in the assigned work
Assets:
- Possession of Emergency First Aid and Fall Arrest Certification is an asset
- Completion of WHIMS and Chainsaw Training is an asset
- Completion of Ground Disturbance Level 2 training is an asset
Skills required for success:
- Ability to use hand and power tools
- Ability to understand verbal and written communication including interpreting work assignments and successfully interacting with the public and co-workers
- Ability to maintain simple records including completing task cards and work records handwritten as well as through Davey TreeKeeper

Conditions of Employment:
- Successful candidates will be fit for a respirator and compliance with the City of Edmontons Code of Practice for Respiratory Protective Equipment including medical monitoring is a requirement of this position
- Valid Alberta Class 5 drivers licence (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Drivers permit is a requirement of this position
- Must be physically capable of performing medium to heavy manual labour in various weather and environmental conditions including at heights and in poor lighting

Salary Range: $24.935 - $33.208 (Hourly)
