Job Description

The role

After the significant impact of the severe flood event in May 2025 MidCoast Council is focused on supporting a strong community-led response and rebuilding effort. Were looking for a passionate and capableCommunity Recovery Officer for a 12 month fixed-termto help guide support and empower our community through this critical phase.

In this role youll work closely with community groups businesses emergency services and government agencies to ensure recovery activities are community-led relevant and effective. Youll be out and about across the region identifying needs attending recovery events and meetings supporting community-led initiatives and strengthening networks that build long-term resilience for the MidCoast.

What youll be doing:

Were looking for someone with a strong commitment to community wellbeing who can listen connect and take initiative. Ideally youll have relevant qualifications and practical experience in community development or recovery combined with excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust and work respectfully with diverse groups. Experience delivering community-led initiatives is essential. Youll also need to be flexibleready to travel across the region attend events outside regular hours and adapt comfortably to changing needs and priorities.

In this role youll work closely with a wide range of stakeholders including the NSW Reconstruction Authority other local councils emergency services Council teams local recovery committees community groups and leaders as well as state and national recovery agencies and service providers.

Salary: Salary range $90260 - $95600 p.a. plus superannuation (negotiable based on skills and experience).

Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure: This is a fixed term position for 12 months. This role is 35 hours per week with flexible working hours based on operational needs. Your schedule will be arranged with your supervisor.
