Job Summary: As the acting executive officer the Executive Director provides direction and leadership to achieve the organizations mission strategic goals and objectives. Impact NWs Executive Director inspires and guides others by promoting the organizations mission values and goals while setting a clear example through modeling behaviors that reflect integrity accountability and a commitment to collaboration and excellence across all areas of the organization.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Board Administration and Support:

  • Participates with Impact NWs Board of Directors in developing a vision and strategic plan to guide the organization and supports the board to achieve its governance goals and objectives.
  • Develops and recommends to the board of directors specific long and short-range action plans for strategic plan implementation and development of agency programs and services.
  • Maintains appropriate relations with the agencys board and various board committees and keeps them informed of other issues pertinent to the agency.
  • Interprets trends in the field(s) of service in which the agency is engaged by maintaining involvement in the professional field as a whole.

Equity and Inclusion Commitment:

  • Champions diversity equity and inclusion by embedding equitable practices into all aspects of organizational leadership.
  • Demonstrates a deep understanding of systemic inequities and actively works to dismantle barriers to access and opportunity.
  • Leads with cultural humility and promotes a culture of belonging through modeling skills and behaviors that reflect inclusive leadership equitable decision-making and accountability to marginalized communities.

Staff Management:

  • Provides supervision and support to the Deputy Director Finance Director People and Culture Director Development Director and Executive Manager following the agencys supervision process.
  • Conducts regular performance evaluations and appraisals for direct reports.
  • Ensures adherence to employment policies and maintains accurate performance documentation.

Financial Management:

  • Provides leadership in policy development implementation and compliance with board directives and funding requirements.
  • Ensures fiscal responsibility including budget preparation with the Fiscal Director and board and overall financial health of the agency.
  • Maintains public accountability preserves agency resources and oversees required reporting.

Resource Development:

  • Supports the board in developing short- and long-term resource development plans to diversify funding sources in support of the organizations mission.
  • Oversees and ensures that annual resource development goals are met.
  • Cultivates organizations relationships with major funders and donors.

Community Relations and Advocacy:

  • Promotes a strong positive public image of Impact NW and its mission across all stakeholders.
  • Cultivates trust and collaboration through modeling skills and behaviors that center empathy authenticity and mutual respect.
  • Leads advocacy community engagement and interagency collaboration efforts.
  • Represents the agency in the community and serves as a passionate and persuasive voice for the organizations mission and those it serves.
  • Cultivates and maintains strategic relationships with the community by modeling skills and behaviors that influence others to act in alignment with Impact NWs priorities and advance equitable access to resources and opportunities.

Supervision: Reports to: Impact NWs Board Chair

Qualifications

Qualifications and Requirements: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required. Educational and Professional Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in social services or a related field preferred; may be substituted for equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive non-profit professional managerial experience.
  • Experience managing a complex primarily publicly funded budget including a general knowledge of public accounting principles.
  • Professional experience supporting boards of directors to achieve governance excellence.
  • Demonstrated success with fund development including knowledge of and success in attracting public foundation and corporate grants; ability to identify steward and solicit major donors.
  • Experience in service to disadvantaged populations and non-profit administrative experience will be given preference.

  • Organizational Knowledge: Using knowledge of the organization and external climate to solve problems and accomplish goals.
  • Relationship Building: Building constructive working relationships characterized by a high level of acceptance cooperation and mutual respect. Business Alignment: Aligning the direction services and performance of each department with the rest of the organization.

Physical Requirements:

  • No heavy lifting is required for this position.
  • This position frequently requires seating typing holding small objects and talking.
  • This position occasionally requires standing reaching walking driving and lifting up to 10 lbs.
