Paralympics Australia exists to lead Paralympic sport and create a more inclusive world. As the peak body for Paralympic sport in Australia we have 24 member organisations and are responsible for selecting and managing the Australian Paralympic Teams to Summer and Winter Games.
The Role
As the Education Manager for Paralympics Australia you will be responsible for the execution of the Paralympics Education Program (PEP) designed to connect educators and students with Para-sports Para-athletes and the Paralympic Movement. Reporting directly to the Head of Strategy and Brisbane 2032 Coordination this role carries the significant responsibility of leading the execution of the Imagine Schools Program. The overarching aim of PEP is to bridge the gap between teachers and school students with Para-sports Para-athletes and the Paralympic Movement thereby fostering a culture that acknowledges and celebrates disability inclusion and diversity. This role is a fixed-term contract to cover parental leave until 31 December 2025 however there is a possibility for an extension.
In this role you will have the opportunity to develop innovative initiatives and resources to promote the program. You will build and maintain relationships with relevant educational and sport stakeholders whilst being accountable for evaluating and reporting on the PEP outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Delivery of obligations related to state government funding agreements for PEP.
Management of the Teach Starter partnership with TES which focuses on teacher resource materials support marketing to schools and teachers and production of webinars.
Promote awareness of disability inclusion and diversity through the PEP which provides free online educational resources and para-sport activities for schools.
Develop relationships with stakeholders in the education and sport sectors.
Maintain and update PEP online web information in conjunction with PA IT and Marketing.
Ensure the teacher resources are reviewed and updated as required.
Monitor any changes to the curriculum and adjust the PEP resources as needed.
Develop new interactive material and videos with current Paralympians.
Proactively identify funding opportunities including state federal and further grant opportunities to ensure the sustainability of the program.
Liaise with the IPC and incorporate any updates to the Im Possible campaign into the web-section.
Manage the school visit program (booking school visits hiring equipment organising Paralympians involvement and attendance at a school).
About You
The Education Manager position calls for a dynamic individual with a strong background in the Education/Sports sector with para-sport knowledge who can adeptly manage multiple program activities within set deadlines. Your expertise in creating online learning materials and your proficiency in liaising and coordinating with both external stakeholders and internal departments will be crucial to your success.
To excel in this role you are expected to have strong organisational skills excellent communication skills to communicate with groups of school children and have a creative flair for developing appropriate resources. The ability to take initiative work collaboratively in a team but also work effectively independently along with a deep understanding of the Australian education sector are also essential.
