The Mechanical department consists of approximately 100 people divided into seven groups located across three soon to be four sites. The teams work closely together across all locations and groups. We are looking for a Refractory Specialist to join our clients newly established office in Krakw and support the quality and delivery of proprietary equipment used in large-scale chemical plants worldwide.
This unique role is ideal for a skilled Bricklayer or Refractory Specialist looking to apply their expertise in a new context or for a Mechanical Engineer with a strong interest in refractory technologies. You will work closely with suppliers and customers supervise installations and ensure the highest standards are met across design fabrication and installation phases.
Youll join a global team of 7 Refractory Experts with frequent international travel to fabrication workshops and customer sites. This is an opportunity to combine practical experience with engineering knowledge and contribute directly to projects that impact industrial decarbonization and process innovation.

Responsibilities:
- Travel frequently to workshops and sites to supervise and ensure quality control during refractory installation.
- Communicate with suppliers and participate in refractory inspections and testing activities at workshops and on-site locations.
- Participate in procurement activities and supplier communication related to refractory materials and services.
- Review technical drawings documentation and test reports submitted by suppliers.
- Attend customer and supplier meetings to discuss technical aspects of refractory work.
- Support the broader mechanical engineering process from equipment design to final site delivery.
- Participate in Kaizen initiatives and contribute to technical improvements in refractory engineering.
Requirements:
- 2 years of experience in refractory work or a relevant industrial installation.
- Skilled worker certificate as a bricklayer and/or a University degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Strong practical knowledge of refractory materials and techniques including:
- Castable lining
- Ceramic fibre lining
- Insulation brick lining.
- Good understanding of international codes and standards applicable to refractory and insulation work.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently for both short- and long-term assignments worldwide.
- Openness to acquiring new knowledge and adapting to new areas and technologies.
- Strong practical skills with the ability to guide instruct and supervise suppliers and team members during installation and inspection activities.
- Ability to guide instruct and support colleagues and partners on-site.
- Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written); ability to work in an international multicultural team.
- API 936 certification is an advantage.
- Familiarity with NDT (non-destructive testing) and welding practices.
