Job Description

Job Title: Head Coach Varsity Wrestling
Status: Part-Time Exempt
Department: Athletics
Reports to: Athletics Director

SCHOOL/ORGANIZATION: St. Pauls School in Concord New Hampshire is a completely residential co-educational secondary school affiliated with the Episcopal Church and welcoming to people of all faiths. St. Pauls School seeks innovative experienced educators who are eager to participate in the academic athletic and co-curricular life of this dynamic residential community in our dedication to the pursuit of excellence in character and scholarship for our students.

Summary: St. Pauls School seeks a dynamic experienced and values-driven Head Wrestling Coach to lead its varsity wrestling program during the winter season. This is an opportunity to guide and mentor student-athletes in a competitive and mission-aligned program that emphasizes both technical development and strong team culture.

The ideal candidate brings expertise in wrestling from both a technical and tactical perspective and understands how athletics can serve as a powerful tool in shaping student character. At St. Pauls coaching is about more than wins and lossesits about instilling core values such as discipline resilience selflessness leadership and a commitment to team over self.

This position is a part-time position that runs from late November through February. Other coaching opportunities within the department may be available for interested candidates throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Head Coach for the varsity wrestling program leading all aspects of training competition and culture-building.
  • Foster a program built on character development sportsmanship and personal growth.
  • Mentor student-athletes on and off the mat using wrestling as a vehicle to teach life skills including perseverance goal-setting and teamwork.
  • Actively recruit and develop student-athletes of strong character academic promise and wrestling talent.
  • Support students through the college recruiting process as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • A passion for working with adolescents in a residential school setting.
  • A strong background in wrestling including prior coaching or competitive experience.
  • Commitment to inclusive coaching practices and character-based education.
  • An eagerness to participate fully in the academic athletic and co-curricular fabric of a vibrant boarding school community.

At St. Pauls School athletics are much more than an extracurricular activity; they provide learning opportunities outside of the classroom. Our athletic fields breathe the same air as the classroom the stage the lab the studio and the Chapel and allow students to push themselves to set and achieve new goals. Students have the ability to compete at the highest level try something new or enjoy being active with their friends.

The School prides itself on its work ethic and sportsmanship while striving for athletic excellence. Interscholastic teams meet four days a week for afternoon practices while competition days are primarily reserved for Wednesdays and Saturdays.
