Description

General Summary

The primary role of the Certified Pharmacy Delivery Technician is to ensure seamless delivery of designated prescriptions to patients homes across the state of Alabama; This Team Member will work closely with the Lead Certified Pharmacy Technician to plan for upcoming deliveries and resolve any delays in care. When not making deliveries this role will support pharmacy staff with operations including but not limited to data entry procurement third party billing scheduling financial assistance and compliance. Additional responsibilities may be added at the discretion of pharmacy leadership and will be expected to be completed as set forth.

Essential Functions

  1. Deliver prescriptions from UCA Specialty Pharmacy to patients homes accurately and efficiently using the PioneerRx pharmacy Delivery App.
  2. Follow pharmacy procedures as outlined in the Pharmacy Technician Task List Roles and Responsibilities manual.
  3. Obtain financial assistance and file claims to appropriate grants.
  4. Maintain A/R balances by sending statements posting payments and communication with patients as necessary
  5. Protect patients and staff by adhering to infection control and workplace safety training and procedures.
  6. Accurately enter bill count and sell prescriptions in accordance with applicable laws and procedures set
  7. Disinfect and sanitize pharmacy floors surfaces and equipment and document date and active ingredients in products used.
  8. Maintain temperatures in the pharmacy between 69-78 degrees. Retrieve and save electronic temperature logs every 90 days.
  9. Maintain pharmacy inventory by establishing par levels cycle counting ordering medications and supplies verifying and documenting receipt and checking for and removing expired medications.
  10. Receive inbound and make outbound calls.
  11. Monitor incoming emails and answer forward or follow up as required.
  12. Complete prior authorizations using CoverMyMeds and document outcomes in pharmacy system.
  13. Triage scheduled prescriptions fills and contact patients to determine preferred dispensing method
  14. Read understand and complete related actions prompted by automated pharmacy reports
  15. Communicate selected prior authorization criteria medication benefit coverage and formulary alternatives to physicians and other staff.
  16. Research resolve and document physician or patient inquiries and grievances and provide verbal or written results to prescriber patient and/or management.
  17. Complete action items and accomplish goals set forth by pharmacy leadership.
  18. Perform other administrative duties as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Must have an active Pharmacy Technician license issued by Alabama Board of Pharmacy PTCB certification free of any discipline and attend any CPUs required to maintain license/certification.
  2. Valid drivers license in the state of Alabama
  3. 2 year history free of automobile accidents and traffic violations
  4. 2 years prior experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy.
  5. Must have the ability to steward prescriptions through the dispensing cycle while maintaining proper communication with all involved parties internal and external to UCA.
  6. Must display advanced reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  7. Computer Literacy 40 words per minute at 95% accuracy
  8. Must show the ability to work independently and within a team excelling in communication collaboration adaptability respect and service
  9. Must show proficiency in use of pharmacy dispensing software(PioneerRx) electronic health record(AllScripts) supporting applications(Delivery App CoverMyMeds UPS WorldShip Endicia AssistPoint Providerflow Nextiva) and Microsoft applications(Outlook Teams Excel etc.).
  10. Must show the ability to maintain confidentiality including strict adherence to HIPAA and UCA Guidelines.
  11. Must maintain professionalism in all aspects of role including but not limited to appearance communication and timeliness.

    Licensure Certification Registration Requirements

    Must have an active Pharmacy Technician license issued by Alabama Board of Pharmacy free of any discipline PTCB certification Alabama Drivers License and attend any CPUs required to maintain license/certification.
