The Interprofessional Education (IPE) Leader plays a critical leadership role in strategically advancing interprofessional education and collaborative practice across the organization. This role is central to Oslers Academic Practice Partnership model fostering the integration of teaching learning clinical scholarship and practice excellence in alignment with Oslers commitment to high-quality safe compassionate and evidence-informed care.
Working closely with clinical program leaders staff physicians and medical education leads educators academic partners frontline teams and learners the IPE Leader designs implements and evaluates interprofessional education strategies that prepare and support clinical teams and learners for high-functioning collaborative practice in a dynamic and complex health system.
Accountabilities:
- Lead the development and execution of Oslers interprofessional education strategy in alignment with the Academic Practice Partnership Model and organizational strategic priorities
- Champion a culture of collaborative team-based care through IPE initiatives embedded in clinical and learning environments
- Strategically integrate the Boyers Model of Clinical Scholarship in all aspects of the program delivery design and implementation (and include other relevant models and frameworks)
- Develop and oversee interprofessional learning experiences for nurses allied health staff leaders learners physician partners including onboarding simulation role optimization and professional development activities
- Develop educational programs to support interprofessional care teams to work and communicate effectively and collaboratively address challenges as a team
- Collaborate with internal partners to embed IPE into quality improvement safety and patient experience initiatives
- Develop standardized teaching and facilitation materials and build capacity at Osler for interprofessional collaboration and education
- Design curriculum and facilitate learning using relevant models and frameworks including but not limited to: adult education principles competency-based education simulation and real-world practice-based scenarios
- Establish key performance metrics to evaluate IPE initiatives and their impact on clinical practice staff and learner engagement learner readiness system efficiencies and patient outcomes
- Serve as a key liaison between Osler and its academic partners facilitating shared goals for interprofessional teaching and learning
- Strengthen academic-practice integration through joint initiatives scholarly projects and knowledge exchange forums
- Promote and support research and scholarship in interprofessional education and collaborative practice
- Lead scholarly activities including but not limited to research activities writing up manuscripts for publication and presenting at peer-reviewed scientific forums
- Critical appraisal of best evidence on IPE teaching and learning and implementation at Osler
- Create a IPE focused clinical placement opportunities for learners
- Provide coaching and mentorship to professional practice leaders educators clinical program leaders and preceptors to build capacity in interprofessional education and facilitation
- Support professional development aligned with regulatory standards and Oslers values of inclusivity compassion and excellence
Qualifications :
- Minimum five years of experience in clinical practice and/or health care education and demonstrated enterprise-wide change management leadership in a large complex organization
- Registration with a regulated health profession in Ontario
- Masters degree in a health care discipline or education (PhD or EdD preferred)
- Certificate in interprofessional education (e.g. Educating Health Professionals In Interprofessional Care)
- Minimum five years of experience in clinical practice and/or healthcare education
- Proven expertise in interprofessional education curriculum development and team-based care models
- Experience working within an complex multi-site health care environment or academic health sciences environment
- Demonstrated skills in project leadership facilitation and organization wide change management
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to engage diverse partners across clinical and academic domains
- Demonstrated ability to lead of QI initiatives or and lead/participate in research and clinical scholarship
- Knowledge of CIHC/IPEC competencies and quality/accreditation standards
- Strong analytical skills and knowledge of quality improvement principles and practices
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent problem solving conflict management risk mitigation and change management skills
- Excellent oral interpersonal and written communication skills
- Ability to travel between all Osler sites
