POSITION OVERVIEW
The Elementary Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality instruction and a positive inclusive learning environment for students. This position requires the planning and delivery of standards-based lessons that support the intellectual social emotional and physical development of all students. The teacher will use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners monitor and assess student progress and maintain clear communication with families and staff.
The ideal candidate demonstrates a deep understanding of child development a commitment to continuous professional growth and the ability to build strong relationships with students families and colleagues. This position plays a critical role in fostering a safe and respectful classroom culture that promotes curiosity critical thinking and a lifelong love of learning.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Washington State teacher certification (K-8) required.
- Elementary Education training and/or experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual preferred
- Experience and/or training in working with children with disabilities.
- Experience and/or training in working with English Language Learners
- Experience and/or training with generational poverty and trama

- To have a positive attitude and work cooperatively with others in a team approach always anchored to what is in the best interest of students.
- Knowledgeable use of formative and summative data.
- Commitment to collaboration and work within a PLC.
- Ability to use research proven reading and writing strategies and tools as well as a willingness to collaborate with grade level teachers and building colleagues for reading interventions and enrichment.
- Abilities in the use of a hands-on/manipulative mathematics curriculum and research proven teaching strategies. Willingness to collaborate with grade level and building colleagues for math interventions and enrichment.
- Ability to supervise manage and work cooperatively with educational assistants.
- Commitment to professional growth and development (related to both individual and building goals).
- Have successful experience with and support of shared decision-making.
- Have experience knowledge and skill working with Washington States Educational Reform Essential Learnings Smarter Balanced Assessment as well as a commitment to begin working with the new Common Core State Standards in ELA Math and Next Generation Science Standards.
- Must have excellent attendance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach a 4thgrade class.
- Maintain classroom environment conducive to learning and proven ability to manage student behaviors in a positive manner.
- Work collaboratively with special program teachers instructional coaches and educational assistants to facilitate an integrated instructional model.
- Teach in a highly collaborative grade level and school community atmosphere focused on improving student learning.
- Willingness to assist with the organization planning and participation of additional school activities; for example Family Reading/Math Nights Open House Science Night and other parent involvement activities.
- Be willing to participate actively and cooperatively with others on the staff in the shared decision making management process.
- Other duties as assigned.
