Job Description

The Safety Coordinator will oversee safety processes related to environmental de-escalation infection prevention and emergency management within Psychiatrist Hospital and Crisis Services. The role involves conducting routine safety rounds educating and coaching staff on de-escalation techniques managing supply inventory coordinating maintenance requests and providing staff training including CPI. The Safety Coordinator will also support staff in debriefing and analyzing incidents leading to property damage or injuries. The position requires effective communication organizational skills and flexibility including working on nights and weekends.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Below are the primary duties and essential functions of an employee in this position. While not all tasks may be performed by every employee in this role all employees are expected to perform related tasks as needed. These essential functions must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Complete routine rounds of environment of care and safety practices
  • Provide observation education and coaching to all staff in using de-escalation skills and supporting patients in crisis
  • Facilitate staff educational activities regarding all areas of staff and patient safety
  • Manage supply inventory and ordering
  • Coordinate maintenance requests and communicate updates to leadership and staff
  • Maintain communication with Facilities Department and Contracted Service Providers
  • Create and maintain processes for cleaning and maintenance
  • Provide CPI training to staff
  • Provide support to staff to debrief and complete analysis of events resulting in property damage or injuries to individuals
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrates commitment to and practices in line with Bowen Centers core values which are: respect integrity mission and stewardship.
  • Learn and understand regulatory standards for care environment emergency management infection prevention and other relevant areas of safety
  • Capable of evaluating process and creating standard procedures
  • Able to work flexible and floating schedule including rotations on nights and weekends
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Proficient in computer and internet-based technologies including Microsoft Office products.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma required.
  • Certificate or Professional License: Healthcare Environmental Services training preferred. CPI Trainer Certificate obtained within 6 months of employment.
  • Valid drivers license and active liability insurance.
  • Satisfactory results from criminal and driving record background checks.
