At the heart of the New South Wales (NSW) planning system the Planning Group takes centre stage. Driven by the NSW Governments unwavering commitment to tackle the critical housing issue we provide essential support and strategic guidance. The Planning Land Use Strategy Housing and Infrastructure (PLUSHI) team are the driving force behind the Departments strategic planning policy rezoning and infrastructure projects all aimed at making New South Wales a better place to live.
The role
A Senior GIS Analyst in our team provides specialist expertise advice and services to ensure that relevant spatial data are sourced appropriately managed accessible by planners and manipulated to provide supporting analytical reports and mapping outputs. The role actively contributes to a high-performance team environment provides excellent customer service and enables continual service improvement practices.
About you
- Provide specialist expertise for integration and high-end manipulation and analysis of spatial data using GIS software.
- Produce high quality maps and reports and actively contribute to the development and delivery of mapping and spatial projects in accordance with corporate technical standards
- Identify opportunities for technological development in the Departments GIS and web mapping environments and mentor Department staff in the use of GIS software.
- Build and maintain relationships with representatives of key agencies including local government community groups and other stakeholders to enhance knowledge of externally sourced data holdings and collection programs and information product developments and to facilitate the collection of data.
- Implement corporate data policies standards and data management procedures to ensure that best practice is used including developing and maintaining spatial database/s and GIS software and hardware to ensure their efficient and effective operation
Essential Requirements
- Degree qualification or higher in one or more of the following areas: GIS Spatial data integration data analysis and mapping using ArcGIS or equivalent experience with a specialisation in one of these areas.
