Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: To provide students with a safe attractive comfortable clean and efficient place in which to learn play and develop.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Meet physical requirements:
    • Abilityto lift heavy loads not to exceed 50 lbs.
    • Ability to climb and work from ladder scaffolding or personnel lift
    • Abilityto stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Training and experience in mechanics heating plumbing carpentry electricity and painting desired
  • Ability to read basic operating instructions and write reports
  • Valid Iowa drivers and/or chauffeurs license required
  • Possess collaborative and interpersonal skills

Successful completion of a criminal background check and physical capacity profile test will be required upon offer.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs general cleaning and maintenance of the school building. This includes:
    • Cleaning and maintaining all equipment as assigned.
    • Reporting major repairs or damage to school property promptly to the Building Head Custodian Principal or Director of Buildings and Grounds.
    • Locking of doors and windows of assigned building(s).
    • Cleaning corridors during the day when conditions require it.
    • Assists in the moving of classroom furniture materials and equipment when need arises.
    • Duties and responsibilities as requested by supervisor may vary from time to time.

Terms of Employment:Substitutes are called and used on an as needed basis with no guarantee of hours or initiative and ability to work without close supervision
