Description

Responsible for management and oversight of all facility coding operations and data quality throughout Trinity Health. Manages departmental compliance programs to ensure ethics and regulatory guidelines are met. Provides leadership for education change management and a commitment to high quality standards. This position is responsible for revenue cycle initiatives and goals to ensure Trinity Health meets established objectives and exceeds in work performance initiatives to support DNFB processes. Ensures provision of high quality cost-effective and customer-focused service by listening responding and following up with both internal and external customers.

Qualifications

Licenses and Certifications Required Certified Coding Specialist (RHIA RHIT or CCS - AHIMA credential) CCS-P preferred or must be obtained within one (1) year of employment. Educational Requirements Bachelors degree or Associates degree in health information management or other related field as evidenced by active membership of AHIMA. Associates degree will be acceptable with education and experience relative to the size and scope of the organization. Formal coursework in Anatomy and Physiology. Experience Requirements Minimum of five (5) years experience with acute care inpatient and outpatient coding. Extensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM CPT and MS-DRG/APC classifications and reimbursement methodologies. Minimum of five (5) years coding supervisory or management experience - preferably with large staff. Expert knowledge of charge master and appeal and denial systems. Previous experience using computerized electronic medical records for health information storage and retrieval as well as encoders. Experience with paper computerized and hybrid medical records Special Skills or Training Requirements Proficient in Word Excel Power Point - general computer literacy with minimum typing skills of 35 characters per minute. Strong communication skills - both verbal and written Ability to apply strong critical thinking skills. Ability to mentor and train staff.
