Job Description

Assistant Accountant(Mindgardens)

  • Employment Type: Part - time (21 hours a week)
  • Duration: 12-months Fixed Term (possible extension funding dependant)
  • Remuneration: $88k - $100k base pro-rata ( 17% Superannuation and leave loading)
  • Work rights: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Candidates must hold full rights to work in Australia to be considered for this position.
  • Location: Randwick Sydney

Mindgardens Neuroscience Network Limited (Mindgardens) is a registered charity focusing exclusively on improving the lives of people experiencing disorders that involve the brain emotions nervous system and thinking processes.

Mindgardens breaks down barriers between academic researchers clinicians and consumers amplifying missing voices to challenge conventional thinking. Building on the expertise of our Members and partners we translate new insights rapidly into everyday practice integrating patient healthcare with research and education to reshape the understanding prevention treatment and care of mental health drug and alcohol and neurological disorders.

Why this role matters

This position provides support to Mindgardens in day-to-day finance services such as accounts payable accounts receivable banking general ledger maintenance and reconciliation of accounts. Reporting to the Finance Manager they are responsible for providing proactive practical and efficient financial support for all aspects of Mindgardens.

Key skills required:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as Bachelor of Commerce/Accounting or equivalent combination of qualifications and work experience.
  • Prior work experience and demonstrated success in Assistant Accountant function within a complex environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial controls accounting processes and experience in applying policy and guidelines.
  • Experience in managing stakeholder expectations and appropriately responding to stakeholder needs.
  • Strong communication interpersonal and stakeholder management skills to inform persuade and negotiate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders in a complex environment to meet organisational expectations and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Well-developed time management and organisational skills and the ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines adopting a commitment to providing excellent service.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications and experience in enterprise financial systems (e.g. Business Central Solver and Calumo).
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to accurately report on business data and financial transactions to support senior management.
