Amazon Stores Finance Science (ASFS) is committed to integrating industry leading scientific methodologies into our financial processes. Our mission is to collaborate with finance and business partners to leverage advanced scientific and economic products to optimize insights analysis and decision-making. Our primary focus lies in developing solutions for Finances enduring challenges and opportunities encompassing financial controllership planning and operational efficiency.
We are seeking a Sr. Applied Scientist to propel Gen AI acceleration within Finance. This role will focus on leveraging large language models and other generative AI technologies to enhance decision-making processes automate complex controllership processes and improve operational efficiency in Stores Finance. Key job responsibilities
Lead the research design and implementation of innovative AI solutions for Amazon Stores Finance
Drive the technical vision for applying AI to transform critical areas across Financial Analysis Forecasting and Controllership
Develop novel approaches to automate and enhance risk analysis processes using state-of-the-art language models
Partner with business stakeholders to identify high-impact opportunities for AI-driven transformation
Mentor and guide junior scientists while fostering a culture of innovation
Design and implement evaluation frameworks to measure the impact of AI solutions

About the team
WW Amazon Stores Finance Science (ASFS) works to leverage science and economics to drive improved financial results foster data backed decisions and embed science within Finance. ASFS is focused on developing science/econ products that empower controllership improve business decisions and financial planning by understanding drivers and innovating Gen AI capabilities for efficiency and scale.
- 3 years of building machine learning models for business application experience
- PhD or Masters degree and 6 years of applied research experience
- Experience programming in Java C Python or related language
- Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning
- Experience with modeling tools such as R scikit-learn Spark MLLib MxNet Tensorflow numpy scipy etc.
- Experience with large scale distributed systems such as Hadoop Spark etc.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $150400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $260000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity sign-on payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
