Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed both major and minor which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.
1. Provide Economic Sanctions Subject Matter Expertise (SME) for Truists Global Sanctions program including coaching training and leadership to a team of sanctions analysts and investigators.
2. Manage a specialized team of sanctions compliance professionals responsible for the execution of the Truist sanctions program. Develop attract and retain talent; recommend staffing levels required to effectively carry out the teams roles and responsibilities while establishing and adhering to talent management processes and performance management programs.
3. Identify manage and escalate significant sanctions risks to the Deputy for Global Sanctions and Screening. Manage teams contributions on remedial actions where appropriate.
4. Communicate with other managers/leaders across the enterprise to provide sanctions guidance on client transaction trade or other relationships.
5. Manage teams adherence to applicable sanctions regulations and internal policies and procedures. Ensure all initiatives and deliverables conform to internal policies and procedures.
6. Apply critical thinking and analysis to ensure your team makes informed decisions on sanctions regulations.
7. Act as a senior point of contact for internal sanctions-related questions and support.
8. Stay updated on current and proposed sanctions laws and regulations.
9. Participate in sanctions and AML/CFT training through webinars periodicals and self -study.
10. Keep aware of national and global events and industry trends relating to sanctions compliance to mitigate potential sanctions risks to Truist.
Qualifications
(Team Lead 1) Required Qualifications:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
1. College degree.
2. At least five years of experience through work in a financial institution or relevant government agency.
3. Technical knowledge of U.S. economic and financial sanctions regulations and laws (particularly OFAC) and experience applying sanctions regulations against specific fact patterns.
4. Experience coaching and/or managing a team responsible for supporting sanctions compliance and executing a sanctions compliance program.
5. Ability to work collaboratively as a leader and as a teammate to provide sanctions compliance advice to business unit leadership with respect to applicability of policies and implementation of the economic sanctions program and regulatory changes.
6. Ability to work independently under time constraints and manage time efficiently and effectively and to oversee the effective time management and execution of a team.
7. Ability to liaise among internal teams external business units and other stakeholders.
8. Ability to interact and communicate effectively with other managers. Highly motivated strong attention to detail team oriented organized.
9. Proven investigative research and documentation skills.
10. Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify and define issues establish facts analyze moderately complex information and develop substantiated conclusions with minimal supervision.
11. Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with senior Global Sanctions leadership business unit managers and external entities.
12. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office software products.
(Team Lead 1) Preferred Qualifications:
1. Masters Degree in a relevant field or Juris Doctor (JD) strongly preferred.
2. Experience in supporting regulatory exams and responses to examiners and internal auditors etc.

4. At least three years experience managing a team responsible for supporting sanctions compliance and executing a sanctions compliance program.
5. Ability to work collaboratively as a leader and as a teammate to provide sanctions compliance advice to business unit leadership with respect to applicability of policies and implementation of the economic sanctions program and regulatory changes.
6. Ability to work independently under time constraints and manage time efficiently and effectively and to oversee the effective time management and execution of a team.
7. Experience liaising among internal and external teams and other stakeholders.
8. Ability to interact and communicate effectively with other managers and senior leaders. Highly motivated strong attention to detail team oriented organized.
9. Demonstrated ability to assess complex issues through root cause analysis and other analytical techniques; structure potential solutions; drive to resolution with relevant stakeholders.
10. Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify and define issues establish facts analyze moderately complex information and develop substantiated conclusions with minimal supervision.
11. Excellent written verbal and analytical skills.
12. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office software products.
