Job Description

Posting Summary
Rutgers The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Business Assistant I for the Anthropology department within the School of Arts and Sciences. The Business Assistant I reports to the Senior Department Administrator SPVR and supports the financial budgetary and fiscal management responsibilities of the SAS Department of Anthropology and all affiliated centers and programs. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Works with the Senior Department Administrator to develop and manage budgets. Prepares financial documents reconciles both sponsored and departmental accounts and generates financial reports. Handles procurement transactions and tracks expenditures ensuring appropriate projects and accounts are charged. Arranges all travel and logistics for faculty and visitors and assists with reimbursements. Assists faculty and students with grant proposals funding issues and navigating financial resources for students. Manages the department calendar coordinates space management and participates in special projects. Maintains a strong working knowledge of current of accounting principles and university policies. Works under general supervision performing routine and non-routine work with limited direct instructions and within established work parameters for the unit. Performs professional work requiring knowledge of general accounting principles and practices and the basic application of concepts theories and terminology of accounting. Cross-trains select duties of the Program Coordinator so as to ensure effective coordination and backup across positions and smooth department operation.

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Rutgers or other university applications (Cornerstone Oracle SAS portal Concur ROCS etc.). Previous work experience in a university environment. Familiarity with working with faculty and students. Understanding of undergraduate and graduate programs. Advanced proficiency in Excel.
