Job Description

At Datadog our internal AI Platform powers ML and LLM-based capabilities across our observability security and developer experience products. The Serving team is responsible for delivering the infrastructure that allows models to be deployed and run safely efficiently and at scale in production.

We build systems that serve inference workloads across all Datadog data centers whether models are small or large running on CPU or GPU. Our focus is on performance reliability and providing a great experience for applied scientists and engineers who need to deploy their models quickly and confidently.

Were looking for a Software Engineer to help design build and operate the systems that run model inference at scale. This is a great opportunity to work on distributed systems contribute to cutting-edge ML infrastructure and help shape the future of AI at Datadog.

What Youll Do:

  • Help build and maintain distributed serving infrastructure for ML models running on Ray clusters.
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to deploy models and debug performance issues in production.
  • Contribute to rollout mechanisms traffic controls and observability tooling for deployed inference endpoints.
  • Implement tools for tracking and analyzing inference metrics such as latency throughput and token usage.
  • Participate in design discussions code reviews and on-call rotations as part of the AI Platform team.

Who You Are:

  • You have 3 years of experience in backend or infrastructure engineering roles ideally with exposure to ML workflows.
  • Youre comfortable working with distributed systems and enjoy building services that are reliable and observable.
  • You have experience with Python Go or another backend-oriented language.
  • Youre curious about how inference infrastructure works and excited to learn about model serving and GPU optimization.
  • Bonus points: familiarity with Ray Kubernetes or LLM-serving architectures.
