Job Description

For more than 150 years Lawrence Hall has been delivering high-quality care throughout the Chicago metropolitan area and is a statewide leader in highly effective evidence-based and innovative therapeutic treatment. Their core programs-Child and Family Treatment Center Therapeutic Day School Creative Therapies Foster Care Transitional/Independent Living Program Workforce Development and Community Wellness-have met the changing and complex needs of youth and families by not only becoming more community based but also by developing more preventative programs that help curb violence in Chicagos communities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The School Clerk reports directly to the designated supervisor. Responsible for the organization and coordination of office operations procedures and resources to facilitate organizational effectiveness and efficiency. Effective use of verbal and written communication. Effective use of verbal intervention techniques with youth. Requires a basic understanding of the youth/customers served by Lawrence Hall and participation in basic trauma training with the ability to utilize that training when interacting with youth/customers of the agency.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Uphold agency policies and abide by rules and regulations found in the Staff Handbook
- Maintain and update information in a variety of education data bases (SDS/SharePoint)
- Complete reports required for billing and timely submission to the Business Office
- Perform general clerical duties which may include but are not limited to photocopying faxing mailing and filing
- Ensure filing systems are maintained and current
- Prioritize work to meet scheduled deadlines
- Use active and reflective listening skills and affirmations to demonstrate respect and empathy avoiding negative and derogatory labels that foster disrespect
- Understand that behaviors responses attitudes and emotions are a collection of survival skills often developed in response to traumatic experiences
- Maintain confidentiality of employees volunteers and program participants to provide a safe environment.
- Communicate regularly with supervisor keeping him/her appropriately informed
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree preferred
- Knowledge of word processing and basic computer skills; intermediate to advanced level of computer skills required
- Valid Illinois Drivers License or Illinois State ID
- No history of child abuse or neglect
COMPENSATION:
Compensation is determined by using a consistent base salary for each individual position. For this position a candidate with a HS Diploma starts at $33500. Offer increases dependent on education and years of experience.
