Job Summary

As the Wardrobe Manager you will oversee all aspects of the wardrobe department ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of costume and uniform management for our production. You will lead a dedicated team manage scheduling purchasing and inventory and uphold the highest standards of wardrobe presentation and maintenance. This role requires strong leadership organizational and communication skills as well as the ability to collaborate closely with the General Manager Makeup Department and other managers to meet deadlines and achieve outstanding results. You will also be responsible for managing the laundry vendor including the selection and oversight of laundry services to ensure that all wardrobe needs are met with professionalism and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

Department Leadership

  • Supervise train and mentor the wardrobe team providing clear direction and support to ensure high performance and a positive work environment.
  • Oversee all aspects of team management including hiring scheduling coaching and when necessary terminations in conjunction with HR.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals updates and address challenges.

Costume Standards & Visual Approval

  • Ensure all costumes and uniforms meet the required standards of appearance cleanliness and functionality for each event.
  • Review and approve costume looks based on event expectations and creative direction collaborating closely with the Creative Director to maintain visual consistency and quality.
  • Oversee costume fittings and alterations as needed to ensure proper presentation.

Scheduling & Time Management

  • Develop and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts events and production timelines.
  • Coordinate with the General Manager Makeup and other departments to align wardrobe preparation with overall production schedules.
  • Monitor daily progress and adjust staffing or workflows as needed to meet deadlines.

Inventory & Station Management

  • Oversee inventory of all costumes accessories supplies and equipment; order and track items as needed to maintain appropriate stock levels.
  • Ensure all wardrobe workspaces dressing rooms and storage areas are organized clean and compliant with safety standards.
  • Implement protocols for proper care storage and maintenance of wardrobe assets.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with the General Manager Makeup Department and additional managers to ensure seamless coordination and communication across departments.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for wardrobe-related needs updates and problem-solving during events and productions.
  • Foster a collaborative environment providing feedback and support to team members and other departments.

Vendor Management

  • Manage all aspects of the Laundry Vendor relationship including selection contract negotiation and ongoing communication to ensure high-quality service and timely delivery.
  • Evaluate vendor performance and address any issues promptly to maintain standards.

Problem Solving & Adaptability

  • Address last-minute costume changes repairs or challenges adapting plans as needed to support production needs.
  • Troubleshoot issues with wardrobe logistics inventory or staff availability in real time.
  • Remain flexible to work in various environments and adjust to evolving production requirements.

Training & Professional Development

  • Organize and lead pre-season and ongoing training sessions for the wardrobe team.
  • Stay current on industry trends materials and best practices sharing knowledge and encouraging continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate team performance and provide opportunities for skill development and advancement.

Professionalism

  • Model a positive calm and professional demeanor especially in high-pressure or time-sensitive situations.
  • Ensure respectful inclusive and considerate interactions with all staff performers and external partners.
  • Uphold the highest standards of safety hygiene and presentation in all wardrobe operations.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old to apply and work in this role.
  • Proven experience in wardrobe management costume supervision or a related field
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing a team
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Effective communicator and collaborator
  • Experience working with vendors and managing contracts
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as required
  • Knowledge of costume care maintenance and industry best practices
