About the role:
The objective of the CI Project Risk Manager role is to lead mentor and empower a team dedicated to delivering proactive first-line risk support and expert advice across CI change initiatives.
The role is accountable for ensuring that robust risk identification assessment and mitigation frameworks are embedded within project delivery teams fostering a culture that prioritises safe and compliant execution of missions and initiatives. The role will drive continuous improvement in risk management practices by overseeing governance assurance and oversight activities that optimise change delivery and support the realisation of strategic benefits.
The role requires active collaboration with Business Risk Partners Enterprise Delivery & Risk the wider Risk community and the Consumer Performance Risk and Executive Office ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and regulatory obligations.
By championing capability uplift continuous improvement and a risk-aware mindset the Manager ensures that the CI Project Risk Team not only safeguards delivery outcomes but also enhances the organisations overall risk maturity and resilience in an evolving change landscape.
More specifically you will:
Lead mentor and develop the Project Risk Advisor team to deliver consistent high-quality project risk advice ensuring alignment with the Project Risk Management Standard governance frameworks and organisational guardrails.
Oversee the design implementation and continual improvement of procedural and process documentation for project risk activities ensuring all requirements and expectations are clearly articulated and up to date.
Champion the delivery of training and capability uplift initiatives across delivery teams and risk resources fostering a culture of risk awareness and best practice in project delivery.
Provide strategic guidance and expert support to Business Risk Partner teams facilitating the uplift of risk practices and ensuring effective collaboration between teams.
Monitor and ensure compliance with business risk practices maintaining the balance between business-specific needs and the standardisation of risk management approaches.
Drive the identification and escalation of risks and issues across the business to enable delivery of a high-quality market-leading customer experience.
Promote and disseminate learnings and insights across the Risk community fostering a continuous learning environment and uplifting organisational risk capability.
Oversee the effective execution of the three lines of defence risk model as defined by the Suncorp Board supporting strategic business objectives and regulatory requirements.
Build organisational understanding and maturity in risk identification and obligation management empowering teams to own and proactively manage their risks.
About You:
Relevant degree in Business Law or related field - Desired
ISO 31000: Risk Management training Desired
Minimum five (5) years appropriate industry experience in general insurance
Minimum five (5) appropriate industry experience in leadership
Minimum five (5) years experience within risk related business area(s).

Experience in assurance activity and the investigative and analytical skills to deliver great insights
Proven ability to identify articulate and assess risk and controls

Experience working with stakeholders at various levels of an organisation
Structured presentation consulting influencing and communication skills
Proven ability to work with many stakeholders to get the right outcomes for the business and the Group.
Excellent communication (both oral and written) influencing and negotiation skills demonstrated by the ability to agree on solutions with strategic and business leaders
Leadership & Teamwork
Experience in building and maintaining a high performing engaged team
Strong and effective leadership skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently cope with pressure prioritise workload and meet agreed timetables
Able to grasp the strategic perspective as well as the tactical
Project Management
Solid project management capability including proven experience with flight planning management of resources and ownership of a medium to long term deliverable
Commercial Acumen
Ability to contribute to and understand strategic perspectives and translate to tactical actions
Strong ability to approach business issues from a strategic perspective and understand the motivations of other parties to achieve desired outcomes
