Primary Purpose:
Coordinate the districts special programs. Collaborate with district staff and outside personnel to formulate develop implement and evaluate special programs including educational opportunities for bilingual ESL and migrant students.
Education/Certification:
Bachelors degree. Masters degree preferred.
Experience:
2 years of experience working with special student populations
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of special programs rules and regulations
Knowledge of special programs strategies curriculum and instruction including bilingual
Ability to organize and coordinate district-wide programs
Ability to track and interpret data
Ability to communicate effectively with bilingual parents and students
Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Program Management and Assistive Instruction
- Assist with implementing procedures and coordinating the processes to identify special programs students (gifted 504 and bilingual) districtwide including review of student data and testing of students.
- Serve as liaison between school and other agencies on joint projects including possible federally funded projects.
- Serve as district parent engagement liaison
- Assist with implementing and coordinating the district counseling program.
- Assist in developing and implementing procedures to identify and monitor at-risk students at all grade levels and ensure that the resources are in place to support student success
- Consult and work cooperatively with campus-based administrators professionals teachers and parents to meet the educational needs of students eligible for dyslexia and/or Section 504 services.
- Ensure campus teams monitor and review 504 plans at least once per school year.
- Implement procedures for ensuring security and confidentiality of state-mandated testing programs and other assessments.
- Direct oversee and monitor test implementation and testing activities to ensure that timely support is provided to testing administrators procedures are followed and deadlines met.
- Plan conduct and/or assist with parent meetings. Consult with parents administrators counselors teachers community agencies and other relevant individuals as needed.
- Evaluate programs within special programs for effectiveness based on evaluative findings (including student achievement data) and recommend changes as needed.
Policy Reports and Law
- Compile maintain and file all physical and computerized reports records and other documents required.
- Submit required annual reports for state compliance.
- Develop and implement a continuing evaluation of special programs and implement changes based on findings.
- Prepare and conduct LPAC meetings and paperwork.
- Train campus personnel in LPAC procedures and paperwork.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law State Board of Education rule and the local board policy.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
