SUMMARY
The Grant Accountant will be responsible for accounting duties in support of the Finance Manager & CFO such as entry analysis and maintenance of the general ledger with a focus on grant accounting functions cash management support monthly and year-end close support and participation in the implementation of good compliance controls and work closely with the finance staff and report directly to the CFO.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in financial management activities. Assist in reconciling budget to actual expense activity for all grants and contracts. Prepare financial reports and invoices for all grants to ensure timely and accurate submission to government funders.
Responsible for grant accounting functions including reviewing and preparing budgets and amendments preparing grant reports and financial documentation maintenance and maintaining monthly accruals of expected grant income.
Oversee grant compliance and processes related to grant accounting and ensure compliance with funding source and administrative guidelines.
Coordinates monthly closing and assists with year-end closing; preparing monthly accruals amortizing prepaid expenses and recording adjusting journal entries.
Perform as a backup for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivables process and run various financial reports including preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements.
Prepare correspondence and interact with outside entities as needed.
Assist in the preparation of schedules and documentation for the year-end audit.
Assist the CFO in preparing budgets with cooperation/input of operations.
Perform additional ad-hoc analysis as needed
Responsible for the 1099 yearly filing process and review of W-9 forms.
Preparation of monthly journal entries
Educational / Work Required
Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
Three years of related accounting experience preferred.
