Role Overview
As the Head of Commercial Operations you will own the development management and optimisation of the companys sales referral and business development engine. You will be responsible for hiring training and managing Business Development Managers (BDMs) who engage clients through educational outreach and referral networks. Your role will include partnering with financial advisors driving acquisition funnels and building a repeatable and compliant sales process. You will also oversee commercial reporting training systems event coordination and ensure that our growth targets are supported by data-driven operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
- Hire train and manage a national network of BDMs focused on lead generation and client onboarding.
- Conduct regular coaching sessions and team check-ins.
- Build and manage BDM KPIs around lead quality conversion and revenue targets.
- Create a high-performance compliant sales culture grounded in ethical advice and education.
Referral & Partner Channel Growth
- Identify onboard and nurture relationships with accountants mortgage brokers financial advisors and SMSF-related professionals.
- Host and coordinate webinars seminars and in-person information sessions with referral partners and prospective clients.
- Develop scalable tools and templates for partner engagement.
Commercial Operations & Systems
- Refine CRM usage pipeline tracking and lead qualification systems.
- Build performance dashboards and lead conversion reports.
- Continuously improve sales workflows to reduce lead-to-conversion time.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory frameworks for SMSF marketing and client advice boundaries.
Strategy & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Align commercial goals with marketing campaigns and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with Finance and Legal to ensure risk-managed client onboarding.
- Report on commercial performance to executive leadership.
- Support budget planning ROI tracking and operational forecasting.
Requirements
- 8 years of experience in commercial operations sales leadership or growth roles.
- Experience in financial services property or SMSF-related industries highly preferred.
- Proven ability to build and manage high-performing sales teams and partner channels.
- Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance considerations in financial advice and property investment.
- Proficient in CRM tools (e.g. HubSpot Salesforce) and reporting platforms.
- Excellent interpersonal leadership and communication skills.
- Highly analytical process-oriented and outcomes-driven.
