Pay Rate: $10.50-12.50 per hr
Key Components:
This position is reserved for Federal Work Study (FWS) students only. Assist Urban REAP Director with managing our Aquaponics System and researching strategies to manage our water quality and pests for maximum system health
- In a student employee capacity may assist in working with external community service partners.
- Assisting with Aquaponics operations including managing our fish plants and water quality for optimal production
- Conducting daily and regular water quality tests and managing water quality as needed
- Monitoring plant health and implementing integrated pest management strategies
- Implementing the planting plan and maintaining updated documentation and records
- Researching strategies to manage water quality and pests
- Harvesting produce for our local vendors
- Develop a planting plan in conjunction with the Urban REAP Director to grow produce for local outlets
- Developing educational materials for community members to learn more about Aquaponics
- Assisting with other tasks and projects as needed for Urban REAP operations
- Background in Environmental Studies Ecology Chemistry Biology Horticulture Sustainable Agriculture or similar
- Preferred - bilingual Spanish
- Learning Outcomes:
Technical skills such as aquaponics maintenance composting plant science and gardening integrated pest management organic practices and soil science
Computer systems management such as Drive Square Outlook and online databases
Interpersonal skills and communication skills with a variety individuals and settings (e.g. store front education tours)
Project management punctuality responsibility and professionalism
Job Description:

- May assist with various projects activities or tasks related to community projects

- Ensure confidentiality of all pertinent information
- May prepare and present information in a group or workshop setting
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylors mission
