The Department of Music at Saint Francis Xavier University invites applicants for a 9-month Limited Term position in Jazz and Contemporary Piano beginning August 2 2025 at the rank of Assistant Professor. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.
Applicants must have professional experience in Jazz/Contemporary piano performance applied lesson teaching classroom teaching and ensemble leadership. A successful candidate will be responsible for 18-credits of teaching at the undergraduate level with courses ranging from music theory aural skills and improvisation. The ability to work in a masterclass or ensemble environment is also required. Technical skills and production skills are also an asset. A successful candidate will also be required to participate in the Institutions visiting artist program as faculty pianist in the Faculty Ensemble. A doctoral degree is desirable but not required a masters degree along with nationally recognized professional profile with significant teaching experience is required.
