Assistant High School Principal
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Iowa certification in educational administration.
- Masters of Arts is required.
- Successful administrative experience preferred.
- Evidence of recent professional growth preferred.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: High School Principal
SUPERVISES: Teachers and Support Staff
JOB GOALS: Assist and support principal in day to day operations of the building its staff and students. To manage support services in order to enhance the morale of school district personnel promote the overall efficiency of the school system and maximize the educational opportunities available to each child
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Competency in developing and leading curricula
- Proficiency in effective implementation of evaluation methodology

- Ability to maintain certification in secondary administration
- Participate in the supervision and evaluation of teaching and support staff.
- Assist in planning and conducting building staff meetings building in-services and staff development.
- Provide leadership in the development and assessment of curriculum and educational programming.
- Assist in the management of the schools master schedule.
- Provide leadership with the development and management of the building handbooks.
- Assist with the classroom/building/facilities utilization schedules.
- Maintain visibility at a range of school activities throughout the school year. Help direct the supervision of school activities events assemblies clubs and school organizations meetings.
- Assist with the building school/business partnerships.
- Conduct effective communications/public relations.
- Assist with building reports that must be routed to the BEDS state district building etc.
- Assist with the selection ordering and distribution of instructional materials for the building.
- Assist in developing implementing and maintaining the building emergency procedures.
- Participate in professional meetings and conferences as approved/designated by the principal or superintendent.
- Provide leadership and supervision for the work of the two Deans of Students.
- Provide leadership in processing and managing problems that occur that require mediation between and among students staff and parents.
- Provide leadership with the diversity programming provided for students both via the curriculum as well as SSIKE.
- Provide leadership with helping to maintain a safe and orderly school environment conducive for learning and teaching. This includes processing and managing the variety of student disciplinary issues that occur throughout the school year.
- Other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve Month 260 day contract. Salary and calendar year to be established by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Districts policy on Evaluation State Statute and any applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
