Why do I see two salary ranges
The City of Greeley in compliance with Colorado state law includes a salary range for all positions posted. This law is intended to improve wage transparency. The City of Greeley in support of wage transparency posts both the full salary range for each position (what you might anticipate your earnings couldbe if you work for the City of Greeley for some time) as well as the anticipated hiring range (the range within which the City anticipates making an offer). The actual offer extended will be based on your years of relevant experience education certifications and potentially other factors.

Job Summary:
Public Safety Technicians are uniformed non-sworn employees of the Police Department. Duties include assisting citizens investigating incidents such as lost/found property non-injury traffic accidents misdemeanor thefts and working at the Front Desk of the Police Department. The incumbent is responsible for enforcing municipal ordinances on a limited basis generating reports documenting actions and taking phone reports; assisting the department by directing traffic when necessary; transporting vehicles for repair; assisting with school crossing guard duties; working with community and neighborhood groups; and transporting dispatch tapes. The incumbent must be able to write clear concise and accurate reports and have excellent communication and customer service skills in dealing with citizens business owners vendors and coworkers. The incumbent may be required to testify in court.
TESTING: Selected applicants will be required to take a drug test ErgoMed physical evaluation polygraph and thorough background investigation prior to employment.
Experience Knowledge Skills:
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must be 21 years of age by date of hire.
Must possess a valid drivers license as well as a good driving record.
One (1)- three (3) years recent experience working with the public especially in difficult situations.
Demonstrated excellent customer service skills.
Spanish/English bilingual speaking skills highly desired.
Essential Functions:
Work weekends holidays and swing shifts.
Communicate in a face-to-face one-to-one setting using a telephone or in a group setting.
Comprehend and make inferences from written material.
Produce written material with clearly organized thoughts using proper sentences punctuation and grammar.
Enter data or information into a terminal PC or keyboard.
Learn job related material through verbal instruction observation lectures and/or reading.
Work Environment andPhysical Requirements:
Frequent contact with the public sometimes facing adverse situations with citizens.
Work schedule includes evenings shifts holidays and weekends.
Required to drive a City vehicle in all weather conditions.
Exposure to all weather conditions.
Coordinate the movement of more than one limb simultaneously (e.g. operate a motor vehicle).
Communication skills enough to convey information verbally and in writing.
Perform physical tasks necessary to apprehend loose animals.
Must be able to hear and speak on the radio and telephone.
Must be able to lift and carry at least 40 pounds.
