NRC is an independent humanitarian organization that helps people who are forced to flee. We provide assistance to meet immediate humanitarian needs prevent further displacement and support displaced people as they build a new future. Around 15000 humanitarians work with the NRC. Most of us are hired locally to work in the field and a small number are based at our head office in Oslo Norway. Many of our colleagues were once themselves fleeing their homes. In 2022 we reached almost 10 million people across 40 countries.
ResponsibilitiesGeneric responsibilities:
- Adherence to NRC policies guidance and procedures
- Strict adherence to the NRC Code of Conduct
- Implement the education project according to the plan of action
- Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection and explore and assess new and better ways to assist.
- Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders
- Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy
- Contribute to program development adjustment or review
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of activities by team members and liaise with relevant colleagues for troubleshooting.
Specific responsibilities:
- Implement education activities under the direction of the Education Project Coordinator.
- Develop and maintain effective filing systems both electronic and paper.
- Oversee education needs assessments at the school/youth level in NRC targeted areas.
- Develop weekly and monthly work plans following the program plans and logframes.
- Facilitate processes of school rehabilitation including close cooperation with the technical Shelter team (school selection tendering monitoring visits during the repairing process and documentation of each stage) in line with NRC SOP.
- Facilitate cash assistance program (school selection BoQ preparation with school management/local education authorities preparation the package of documents) in line with NRC SOP.
- Facilitate BLP training session for school teachers school psychologists implementing partners. Collecting and filling out pre- and post-training data (registration forms BLP certificates SLECs FGD).
- Provide support to NRC implementing partners activities including training session facilitation in line with NRC quality standards.
- Support the development and contextualization of BLP training packages.
- Ensure ongoing monitoring tracking and reporting of education projects.
- Monitor spending and purchase requests as assigned by PM/PC and ensure proper follow up with logistics and field teams
- Regularly travel to the field to support and monitor education and training activities.
- Oversee procurement and distribution of training materials and provide formal input on school needs.
- Maintain positive work relations with teachers headmasters and DoE representatives.
- Any other task relevant to the position as requested by the line manager.
QualificationsProfessional competencies:
- Experience working in a humanitarian/recovery context
- Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts; ability to remain calm and professional in tense situations
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience within the field of expertise (Education social services including psychosocial support/psychology or other relevant fields)
- Documented technical competencies related to the positions responsibilities.
- Technical-specific knowledge of the humanitarian sector is an asset.
Context related skills knowledge and experience:
- Experience in Psychosocial Support programming in education
- Experience in conducting training for adults (Teacher training/ Training of trainers is an asset) or similar experience
- Knowledge of the basics of child protection and/or psychosocial support
- Experience working with youth through recreation and/or vocational training
- Knowledge of the education system in Ukraine
- Working knowledge of English both written and verbal
- Fluent in Ukrainian. Knowledge of the Russian language is an asset.
