Job Description :
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the direct line manager for a chapter of Data Engineers fostering their professional growth and specialist expertise through continuous coaching mentorship and on-the-job development.
- Lead your chapter in designing building and maintaining robust scalable and reliable data pipelines and infrastructure.
- Establish and implement data engineering best practices including coding standards CI/CD testing and infrastructure management.
- In collaboration with the Enterprise Data Management team propose and implement architectural solutions and strategies to improve data quality reliability and accessibility.
- Champion a collaborative and positive chapter environment facilitating knowledge sharing and a culture of continuous learning and operational excellence.
- Collaborate with data scientists analysts and business partners to understand their data needs and provide the necessary engineering solutions.
- Ensure the timely delivery and maintenance of data solutions to support analytics and business intelligence.
- Conduct regular performance check-ins (quarterly) and annual performance reviews focusing on growth and constructive feedback.
- Assess chapter member capabilities to inform workforce planning recruitment and talent development strategies.
- Serve as an active hands-on member of an agile squad (approx. 30% of your time) contributing directly to the squads goals and deliverables.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related technical discipline required.
- 5-7 years of experience in a data engineering or software engineering role with a data focus.
- 3 years of proven experience in a leadership mentorship or coaching role. Formal management experience is a strong asset.
- Must have proficiency in writing complex optimized SQL queries.
- Advanced programming skills in Python for data engineering (e.g. Pandas PySpark data pipeline frameworks like Airflow or Dagster).
- Deep experience with cloud data platforms (GCP AWS or Azure) including data warehousing (BigQuery Snowflake Redshift) and data processing services.
- Proven experience building and optimizing ETL/ELT data pipelines.
- Excellent interpersonal communication listening and presentation skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
Agile/Digital Experience:
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies.
- Openness to working in Agile environments with multiple stakeholders.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills to understand business partner needs and deliver solutions.
