We are looking for a dependable and detail-oriented Surgical/Dental Prep Veterinary Assistant to support our surgical and dental teams by ensuring all patients equipment and workspaces are fully prepared for procedures. In this vital role you will play a key part in maintaining efficiency and safety in the surgical suite by managing pre-operative preparation assisting with patient handling and maintaining strict cleanliness and sterilization protocols.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives behind the scenes and takes pride in creating a safe sterile and organized environment for both patients and veterinary staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for surgery and dental procedures including shaving scrubbing and positioning
- Assist with pre-operative assessments such as vital signs and patient identification
- Set up surgical and dental suites with appropriate instruments and supplies
- Sterilize and maintain surgical and dental tools and equipment
- Restock surgical supplies and ensure inventory is maintained
- Clean and disinfect surgical areas before and after each procedure
- Assist with patient restraint and monitoring as needed during induction and recovery
- Support veterinary team with anesthesia prep and monitoring setup
- Maintain accurate records and logs related to equipment sterilization and prep
- Adhere to safety and infection control protocols at all times
Qualifications :
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinical setting (surgical/dental prep experience preferred)
- Working knowledge of sterilization techniques instrument care and surgical suite protocols
- Comfortable handling animals of various sizes and temperaments
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work efficiently in a time-sensitive environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to cleanliness and detail
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Willingness to assist with other hospital duties as needed
- Veterinary Assistant certification or related training (preferred but not required)
