Reporting to the Operations Director the Operations Manager will have overall day to day management responsibility for the Warehouse operation along with the requirement to deputise for the Operations Director as necessary. Maximising site operational performance by providing a strong ethos of leadership and colleague engagement having complete understanding of the operation and closely managing Partner requirements ensuring that KPIs are consistently achieved.
Working hours: Monday to Friday 40 hour week (Flexibility required to meet demands of the business).
Key Duties of a Operations Manager:
- Oversee day to day operations liaising with drivers customers and office-based colleagues.
- Direct reports of 10 operations office staff which include probation reviews & appraisals.
- Direct reports of 50 drivers managed in conjunction with the Transport Manager.
- Ensure effective communication across the shifts so all areas of the operation are aware of the transport and resource plans.
- Recruit and onboard your team which include interviewing training and setting objectives and/or PDPs.
- Develop strategic operating plans that reflect the longer-term objectives and innovate the operation.
- Manage all KPI performance and provide KPI reports to your line reports on a timely basis.
- Represent the company to customers and professional associations.
- Seek out opportunities for expansion and growth by developing new business relationships.
- Ensure that freight is processed in line with client SLAs; review volume forecasts and ensure adequate resources are in place and ensure daily performance reports are produced.
- Ensuring that cost control is maintained in line with budget responsibilities.
Qualifications :
- Logistics Distribution background with previous experience of running a depot operation.
- Previous Operational Management experience.
- Experience of leading managing and motivating a large team.
- Budget and productivity management.
- Knowledge of working to Health & Safety standards.
- A highly confident and proactive individual able to represent the Company and customers.
- CPC National is desirable.
- Effective communication skills and commercially aware.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Packages: Office Word and Excel.
