About the role

Reporting totheProperty & Construction ClaimsPortfolioManagerwithintheInsuranceServicesDivision you are responsible for managing a portfolio of claims that deliversclientfocusedrecoverysolutionsthatrestoreconfidenceand build a moreresilientVictoria.

This is an exciting ongoing opportunity as a Senior Claims Specialist working with a team of claims specialists and claims officers who provide best practice strategic claimsmanagement.

You willplay a key part in educating our clients and building their knowledge ofemerging trends and strategies aimed at reducing the level and frequency of claims to heighten their riskmanagement capability.

Key responsibilities

  • Manageaportfolioof property and constructionclaimsincludinghigh quantum complex and strategically significantclaimsforourclientsbyapplyingbest practice claims management processes and ensuring compliance with VMIA claims manualanddelegations
  • Build and forge strong client relationships to positively influence the resolution of claims and ensureclient participation throughout the claims management process.
  • Work in partnership with appointed loss adjusters andstrategicallyengageotherspecialistthirdpartyproviderstosupporttheclaimsmanagementprocess.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to meet the strategic claims management needs of clientssupport the analysis of claims data and portfolio trends.
  • Mentor and guide members of your team to support the role of the Claims Portfolio Manager.

Who you work with

  • Work closely withyourpeersacrosstheInsuranceServicesdivisionandthebroaderorganisationtodesigndevelopand implementkeyInsurance Servicesprograms and initiatives
  • Communicate and consult regularly with the Risk Insights and Products and Service teams to informtrendsmarketneedschanges andnewopportunities forinitiatives
  • Provide occasional information and updates directly to the Executive and Board. You may alsopresent on strategic program or initiatives related to client or sector from time to time.

What we are looking for

  • 5 years experience in a property and construction claims management role with an insurer or loss adjuster especially in thehandling of more technically complex matters including indemnity issues across the property and construction risks.
  • Aproventrackrecordofsuccessfulmanagement ofcomplexclaims with expertknowledgeofclaimsmanagementissues andchallenges.
  • You are a seasoned professional with highly developed communication and interpersonal skills provenclient relationship management experience and the ability to influence stakeholders and negotiate mutually beneficialoutcomes
  • You have knowledge and experience in insurance claims management along with the capacity to analyseand interpret claims information and data sources. You can demonstrate how you have used this intel toidentifytrends andstrategicopportunitiesfor improvement
  • Highly demonstrated capability to manage the performance of claims service providers to ensurethat agreedservicestandardsandfees aremaintained.
  • Anunderstandingofthecomplexitiesandnuancesofpublicsectormanagementwiththecapacity tooperatesuccessfully insuchan environment.

Qualifications

  • YouholdatertiaryqualificationinInsuranceBusinessCommerceFinanceLaworrelevantdiscipline (highly desirable).
  • YoumayalsoholdaprofessionalmembershipwithariskmanagementInsuranceorrelevantorganisation.

Salary Information

At VMIA we offer competitive salaries based on the roles classification and your skills and experience. Typically new employees start at the minimum of the salary range however consideration may be given to starting above the minimum of the band should you demonstrate extensive experience in a similar role or possess unique and desirable skills and capabilities required to perform the role.
