Job Description

Performs laboratory experiments and tests utilizing instructions and/or standard methodology; interprets results and conducts analyses in support of product and process research and development.

The Chevron Richmond Engine Laboratory is a research and development facility used to evaluate existing and future fuels and fuel additives technologies. Expansive lab facilities include engine and vehicle test stands chassis dynamometer vehicle testing lanes for both light and medium duty applications engine parts rating and analysis facility mechanics garage and other supporting facilities and specialized analytical equipment. The Engine Lab Technician Vehicle Ops & Mechanic duties support but may not be limited to the day-to-day operations reliability and preventative maintenance of vehicle testing facilities as well as mechanic duties to repair maintain and prepare vehicles for research and development testing. This position is in the Fuels Technology team in the Downstream Midstream and Chemicals division of Chevron.

Position Responsibilities:

Vehicle Operations Management: According to test schedule and requirements prepare vehicle testing facility and assets for running vehicle testing on chassis dyno facilities. This includes ensuring vehicle set up tie downs and connectivity with control station are in alignment with standardized procedures and safety requirements. May support 24/7 troubleshooting with front line operators.

Vehicle Preparation & Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot vehicle maintenance issues perform engine tear downs and rebuilds and prepare vehicles for testing operations in alignment with operations schedule and maintenance plans.

Preventative Maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance on chassis dyno vehicle operations facility components and vehicles on routine basis. Potential collaboration with internal and external maintenance shops to support work.

Operational Excellence (OE) and Safe Work Practices (SWP) Champion & Steward: Understand and support Management of Change (MOC) Isolation of Hazardous Energy (IHE) e-Permit to Work (ePTW) Job Safety Analysis (JSA) Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) Quality Written Procedures (QWP) and Process Safety reviews and evaluation for chassis dyno vehicle operations.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of two years working in a vehicle or engine testing environment or vehicle mechanic and/or maintenance shop

Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated teamwork and relationship-building skills that illustrate a passion for teamwork and collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications:

ASE Certified Mechanic

Master Technician Certification

Prior experience working in a research and development engine & vehicle testing laboratory

This role is not eligible for expatriate assignment. The anticipated salary range for this position is $65700 $136700.
