Job Description

HGV Technician
15- 18 per hour
Based in Ivybridge

Were on the lookout for an experienced HGV Technician whos confident under the bonnet thrives in a hands-on environment and takes real pride in keeping commercial vehicles running smoothly and safely. If you know your way around a toolbox and want to work in a no-nonsense straight-talking workshop with a proper team behind youthis could be worth your time.


About the role

This isnt one of those jobs where youre stuck doing oil changes all day. Youll be trusted with the full range of diagnostics repairs and inspections on a fleet of heavy goods vehicle. From fault-finding right through to getting them back out on the road. Youll have the equipment support and breathing space to do things properly. No cutting corners no conveyor belt pressure.

The business youll be joining has been running for years and is one of the go-to names in commercial vehicle maintenance across Teesside and beyond. Theyre a solid well-organised outfit with a loyal customer base and a reputation for doing things right first time. Think independent family-run values with the standards and professionalism of a much bigger operation.

Working hours

Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm. No late shifts no nights and your weekends are your own.

Key duties

  • Carrying out maintenance servicing and repairs on a range of HGVs

  • Fault diagnosis using modern diagnostic equipment

  • MOT preparation and inspections

  • Ensuring vehicles are compliant with DVSA standards

  • Completing all relevant paperwork and service records accurately

  • Supporting the workshop team and working collaboratively

Key requirements

  • Previous experience as an HGV Technician or HGV Mechanic

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent or Time served

  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills


  • A team player with a good work ethic and a sense of pride in what you do

  • HGV licence would be a bonus but not essential
