Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan implement and evaluate effective classroom instruction consistent with building and district curriculum/programs.
  • Participate in team planning programming and instructional activities focused on improving instructional practices and student learning.
  • Diagnose and prescribe learning and training programs for individual students based on aptitude interest and level to achieve.
  • Develop instructional goals and objectives to meet teaching assignment.
  • Use multiple student data elements to modify instruction and improve student learning.
  • Demonstrate a passion and enthusiasm for working with all children regardless of background or disability
  • Recognize individual students needs and provide appropriate strategies and interventions.
  • Foster and maintain a safe positive learning environment.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and the school community.
  • Serve as a cooperative member of the instructional team.
  • Use and integrate educationally relevant technology.
  • Participate in building and district in-service education/training programs.
  • Attend building and district meetings and conferences as required.
  • Comply with school and administrative policies and state statute.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must hold a valid Washington State ESA certificate with School Psychologist endorsement
  • Responsible for student assessment for placement in special programs
  • Knowledgeable about State and Federal rules regarding assessment of students for special education services
  • Ability to communicate with staff students and parents relative to assessment outcomes
  • Ability to work effectively with school administration in accomplishment of assigned duties
  • Ability to work with members of school team to plan for childs total educational program
  • Knowledgeable about and experienced in multi-cultural settings and assessment procedures
  • Extensive knowledge of individual and group testing
  • Ability to make several recommendations for a childs program
  • Ability to work within the timeline required by regulations including completion of paperwork
  • Clearly and accurately interpret assessment results to parents teachers and students in a collaborative team format
  • Work as a team player with other special education and general education staff
  • Ability to work collaboratively with speech and language pathologists occupational therapists physical therapists and other specialists serving the students
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all school and health-related issues
  • Apply ethics and standards of professional practice in the delivery of school psychological services and observe relevant laws and policies
  • Proficiency in speaking writing or teaching in a language other than English (Spanish Mixteco Ukrainian Russian Marshallese American Sign Language) preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment that focuses on quality results while motivating supporting and encouraging continuous improvement in a team setting.
