The Senior Sales Manager Pharma is a critical member of the Life Sciences Systems (LSS) team at ATS Automation. This role is responsible for driving capital equipment sales including standard products and engineered-to-order automation solutions focused on pharmaceutical liquid processing aseptic fill/finish handling and inspection. Based out of Cambridge Life Sciences this position targets customers primarily in North America with select European strategic accounts.
You will lead the full sales lifecycle from identifying opportunities and leading capture strategy to negotiating final agreements. Youll collaborate cross-functionally across engineering operations applications and leadership to deliver innovative customer-driven automation solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Build and grow a qualified funnel of pharma capital opportunities driving bookings across standard and custom systems.
Lead strategic pursuits coordinating internal teams (engineering finance legal etc.) from inquiry to close.
Promote and sell LSS products including Pharmascan Lyoscan SuperTrak Pharma Flexline and BabyPhil.
Develop and execute strategic sales and account plans aligned with business objectives.
Support price scope and contract negotiations within established approval limits.
Drive prospecting efforts through personal outreach networks and market intelligence.
Maintain accurate pipeline and opportunity data in Salesforce CRM.
Represent the Voice of the Customer internally to shape continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
Partner with service and project teams for seamless account management and long-term relationship growth.
Participate in Quarterly Business Reviews and provide competitive insights to LSS leadership.
Identify new applications and support business development activities including M&A leads where relevant.
Performance Metrics:
Growth in qualified sales funnel and capital equipment bookings
Win rates on strategic pursuits and target accounts
Effective use of Salesforce for pipeline and reporting
Customer satisfaction and account retention
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in engineering business manufacturing technology or related field
7 years of capital equipment sales experience in the pharma sector especially inspection and aseptic processing
Proven success in selling multi-million-dollar engineered automation solutions
Experience leading cross-functional pursuit teams and managing complex sales cycles
Strong hunter mindset with ability to identify pursue and convert new opportunities
Excellent communication negotiation and presentation skills
Familiarity with pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and industrial buying behaviors
Comfortable engaging with executives at major pharmaceutical organizations
Self-motivated professional and able to travel frequently across North America (and occasionally internationally)
Working Conditions:
Office-based with regular visits to customer sites and manufacturing facilities
Occasional exposure to noise and industrial environments; PPE may be required
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in warehouse settings when needed
