The role of the Special Education Team Chair is to manage the special education IEP process and chair IEP Teams in accordance with State and Federal regulations and District policies and procedures including adherence to mandated timelines. Main Responsibilities- Manage the Team Meeting process in accordance with Federal and State requirements making sure that all timelines are met and all required paperwork is completed- Facilitate IEP Teams - Conduct evaluations as needed- Work with the Director of Student Services and Team members to identify appropriate assessments for evaluations and to complete Evaluation Consent forms- Schedule team meetings- Take accurate and complete meeting notes; provide a copy to the parent/s and other Team members- Monitor IEP development content and timeline adherence- Create required documents in SchoolBrains- Provide the completed IEP with accompanying documents to the Parent- Maintain accurate records in the special education sections of SchoolBrains- Share management of difficult cases with the Director of Student Services - Assist the Director of Student Services with training for SSO and other school staff with regard to IEP development and compliance with regulations policies and procedures- Collaborate with the Director of Student Services to oversee accommodations on state and district testing for students with special needs including tracking accommodations in SchoolBrains submitting required documentation and planning for implementation- Participate in SEPAC meetings as appropriate- Assist the Director of Student Services during MA DESE monitoring of special education programs and charter renewals- Maintain awareness of and compliance with federal and state regulations regarding special education provisionsBFCCPS opened in 1995 as one of the first Charter Schools in Massachusetts.
